I don't consider myself a fan of Samuel Adjei Sarfo, perhaps not yet, because of his caustic display of hubris on these pages, as well as his know-it-all attitude. This write-up humanizes him and shows the world that he is amenable to erring like the rest of us.

Good work. If only some of our African brothers in the academia will admit to their fallibility and correct it, so many budding talents will mature to contribute to the body of human knowledge. But what do we see? Suppression, threats and 'pull him down' tactics have become the order of the day as if they are the sole repository of knowledge. Divergent views are treated as oppositions to their established views. Learning to unlearn to learn is maturity. Thanks for sharing.

Anyway, like you, I had a stint of teaching English, and English Literature in sec, schl, even though I didn't have a degree in English; not even A' L! Just my O'L and RSA Stage 2. But unlike you I had find out that there were many words I couldn't find in the Oxford Dictionary before I completed sec. schl. Luckily, we had a couple of Thesauruses at home, one of which I took to Sixth Form and had fun with my mates. You'd have found "upliftment" in it. Before writing this, I goggled the word and here's someone's experience.

Upliftment - Merriam-Webster Online

I have been searching for the word "upliftment" that is commonly used in Jamaica, but does not appear in the Oxford Dictionary. The noun from "uplift" is "uplift.".
