I agree there was greed but I also do not think that these players should play for free. They gain from playing for the national team but they are also taking some risks. If they get seriously injured, there might be some question marks concerning who is going to compensate them for their careers. Some are covered by strong insurance policies but some are not. We should keep in mind that these players must have extraordinary family demands in and even outside of Ghana. The problem has been the GFA. They got too cocky because they started to take World Cup qualification for granted. The Brazil fiasco was necessary in order to put things in perspective. Nothing is guaranteed. It is an adjustment but I think the players are gradually learning that this is not a joke. They have to bring 100% effort every game.

My point is that there are many facets to what has transpired. For instance, assuming you get rid of all of these players, coaches and officials and replace them with Kotoko and Hearts of Oak players. There would be an entire new set of problems that I cannot enumerate here. Unfortunately, Ghana is a country where people say all the right things but are really looking for the quickest way to line their pockets. The only solution is to make sure to change up the team on a regular basis and keep only a few core players. To me, they only definite selections should be Gyan, Dede and KASA. You can pretty much select anyone. We shall see.

I totally agree that without exposure to the black stars, some of these players would have dead careers. But taking all of us for granted is a shame. Sadly my interest in football as a game has been killed by these guys. I do not blame them though, but the greedy politicians and officials who have also been taking advantage of them through corrupt practices, to enrich themselves. The game of football will always go on but the behaviour of these guys and their greedy officials will make it impossible for others to follow the success they have managed to chalk through the support of Ghanaians and it is really sad.

There is no balance in this submission on Ghanaweb about the players you blame for the ills that have befallen the black stars. You blame the players for both the cause and effect of the disaster of their performances and you put the blame only on their lack of patriotism and greed. This is really unfair.
You do not mention other contributory factors that brought this whole disaster about; you appear to exonerate the roles played by GFA and the way they handled the incentives that not Ghana, but FIFA has paid to be given to the players; monies that year after year, has been denied the players, and chopped by the GFA for their own personal use while other international players have not had this problems with their respective FAs.
In terms of motivation of players to perform to their utmost the coach, Appiah does not understand the meaning of it. Watch Jose Mourhino and here is a coach who knows how to be a father figure for his players and handles top class players like Drogba and gets the best out of him.
A coach's job is to get the best out of a team and Appiah simply has not got it and must be replaced.

That is their profession just like you journalist. Find out the number of journalist who leave one media house to join another. You know why? As much as I think they made mistakes and must take responsibility for it, what we must also know is that their behavior was as a result of a long agonizing silence over wrong/mismanagement. And what they did is what happens when a suppose fool become wise. Lets face it all those players even though they got their exposure on the back of the national teams, tell me that losing all their matches will affect them in any way more than it will affect you and me. You have confirmed the level of bad management when you said better players dont get the opportunity due to corruption.Those are the things we need to tackle and catch up with the rest of the world by getting professional,else even if we sack all the black stars today, those who will take over will also get to learn how things are done right elsewhere and we will come back to this same point one day.

There is a real problem with the Black Stars and I don't believe it's with the players. Management is the problem. If you have a coach you cannot analyse a game and goes blank when the team is not performing with all its cylinders then the team has a proplem. you look at the coache's face during a game and he looks confused and lost. That has an effect on the team. After the world cup and its problems, GFA should have done its homework and try to fix the problems looking within but they haven't. Until GFA who is very tainted fix the problems within itself there will be no hope for the Black Stars. Management is made up of selfish, corrupt, incompetent, ignorant and misfits. They are the ones that have to be purged.

The reason why it appears that the players are focused on money is because, there is always an issue with money, either they are not paid on time, or they are paid less than agreed or they have to wait months to get payments.
Considering how much these players get paid by their respective clubs, it should be obvious to all Ghanaians that the pittance that they get for playing for their country does not matter to them one bit.
The fact that they are being treated as idiots is what angers them i.e. being told that the country can't afford monies and yet watching so called 'officials' who have no effect
whatsoever on the team being given huge amounts for doing nothing, watching 'officials' and their girlfriends etc. travel first class to games, while the players rough it in coach. In Western countries the players welfare comes first, and if anybody has to rough it in economy class then it will be the officials instead of the players.
Most of these players are playing at the highest level of the game, in England, Germany France Spain Italy etc., clubs there have observed them and have agreed to pay them a lot of
money to play for their clubs, we all know that employing a black person does not come easily to these Europeans, so we can conclude that the players are being paid highly because they are top class footballers.
Yes Abedi played for Marseille, but I can assure you that Marseille would not employ his sons if his sons were no good, there is no amount of money in the world that Abedi could use to
bribe anybody in Marseille to employ his sons, football is a business, so from this we can conclude that the Ayew brothers are actually world class footballers and we would do well to support them instead of sniping at them because of petty jealousies.
The root of all the problems lies with the GFA, until the GFA earns respect, it will not be respected by anybody, especially the players and the public, and we all know what they need to do to earn our respect.
