i doubt nana can beat any candidate fielded by the ndc no matter how bad the person is . nana doesnt seem to be able to reach the ordinary man nor gain the trust and confidence of of a good deal of the silent majority . his statements are all veiled with big language english with no true meaning or intent . his stubborness in taking another pepeni as his vice makes it clear he is blind to the true concerns of Ghanians today . he even went as far as praising PV as being a good person when we all know he was key and instrumental of the persecution of the Akans during jj's time . he sounds more and more like a hypocrite and if this is the best that npp has we recommend the status quo remains as its better to restrategise and prepare than to follow an egoistic fool who can take his head out of his ass

I don't think the writer's effort is wasted. This is a forum where ideas are expressed-one may or may not agree with an idea but that is how we grow an infant democracy like ours. I do take issues with some points that the writer expressed - such as throwing in the towel when an attempt to the highest office in the land turns out to be a failure. Well, I know one thing for sure "if at first you don't succeed try again" Abraham Lincoln tried a number of times before winning the presidency of the United States. Pat Buchanan, Ross Perot and Ralph Nader were politicians in the U.S who never gave up. Ambition they say should be made of sterner stuff. Akuffo Addo can choose to run forever but what is disheartening is that if he ever wins he would run the country just like it has been run since independence - and the same stagnation which has crippled economic development would still be in operation. Why this view? Because the executive branch of government has too much power. This is a recipe for corruption and inefficiency. Corruption is second nature and mankind is susceptible to it. In American and indeed the western democracies, realized this cancer right from their foundation and found a partial solution to it. But oh boy! it has been very effective. There are oversight committees in every institution to monitor who is violating what. The CEO does not have the absolute power to cover a criminal act and get away with it. Look at what happened in Virginia just this past thursday, the ex-governor has been convicted of corruption and awaiting sentencing in January. The former governor of the state of Illinois; Rod Blagojevich is serving a 14 year sentence for corruption, the mayor of New Orleans in the state of Louisiana, is serving a ten year sentence for corruption. The point is the judiciary is so independent and would chase you to the gates of hell if you commit a crime against the state. So whether Akuffo Addo or whatever comes and operates under the current system, where so many are over and above the law, we are going to be in the same mess. Could you imagine Rawlings standing in the middle of a fire investigation and no one dared to ask him to leave. His presence in the investigation was obstruction of justice. The fire department therefore could not do a fair and independent investigation. Please for God's sake, if we ascribe that much power to the executive branch, no one, not even my daddy- the most honest man who walked the surface of Ghana can change our situation. Akuffo Addo can run but should change the system, which breeds corruption.

In a typical agenda of a Ghanaian secret society a businessman asks a corrupt judge for a favor in sabotaging his business competitor, the judge asks a lecturer for a favor to admit his child, the incompetent lecturer asks a politician to help him in becoming the next vice chancelor, the politician then asks the businessman for a sum of money and the deal is closed. The constitution must be the supreme law of the land. There are a group of people who think they are rich but are not who have formed a secret network and are becoming a powerful group in Ghana usurping the powers of the constitution. They are gaining control of the police and the judicial system. The sad thing about this situation is that they are not wise and knowledge they have not. Their motive unquestionably is to protect their misdeeds and promote their well being. Our police and judicial system are not improving because of this phenomenon since they secretly judge cases in primitive ways and resort to solution which are draconian and the least wise.
Clearly such a secret society undermines the constitution of the republic of Ghana and oppresses the general public. They have no moral right to summon or interrogate a non member.

Some of the reasons why most candidates who fail to clinch the topmost position in their quest to lead continue to pursue their ambition are;
1. It is their constitutional right to do so.
2. The integrity of our elections fail to meet standard expectations on moral high gronds as every forumer will agree with me that no single result of any general election since the inception of the fourth republic has been accepted in good faith. They most of the times believe their fortunes are shot changed. So until such a time that the EC uphold the integrity of our elections on a moral high grounds and negate any type of practices that thwart the credibility of same, candidates will find it difficult to abandon their ambition to achieve their aim.
Thirdly, just as you mentioned that it is the norm in the US for candidates to recoil to their normal lives after their first fail to win power so is it the normal practice in Ghana, which has remained the status quo, for candidates to continue to try their luck so long as they have the chance to do so. It is not a big deal.

Did he not support Kpegah's lunatic claim that Nana Addo murdered and impersonated one William called to the bar in England; while at the same time supporting claims that Nana Addo was the William Akufo Addo who exited Oxford under bizarre circumstances (apologies to Tsatsu)?

Mr Bokor our constitution was written by JJ for himself and the NDC ignoring the fact that the NDC could be defeated, so therefore perpetuate themselves. The NPP came to power knowing very well the state of our constitution and used it as is. You might want to take a little time to delve into the constitution and see for yourself the flaws and illegalities.
Well now our constitution is over twenty years and has been tested, it is time that it is challenged to mould it to become something that will stand the test of time.
How can parliament be effective when the president must use at least half of parliament as his cabinet?
How is the Justice system going to work when the prosecutor is also the defence?
How can the MMDCES's work when the president appoints them? Who is going to hold anybody responsible?
There are so many changes that have to be made to the constitution to make it work.
Now on my difference. We must not forget that the US has been practicing democracy for over 250 years, if we were going to copy the we could have made it better but what do we have? That not withstanding you need to also take into account the motives of the person wanting to be president. Until the people know that there is a different way of doing things it will even get worse. Dr P K Nduom is a different breed.
And NPP is just desperate-they swore to make Ghana ungovernable and they have done just that, sabotaged everything!!! They turn a blind eye to their gargantuan shortcomings and brazenly amplify the mistakes of other parties e ...
