Ghana was looted to the full through dubious judgement debt payments under Mills but Trokosis, as their usual tradition of not applying wisdom, voted 99% NDC, though it took extra efforts of Afari Gyan to bring them to power. The real danger facing the NDC in 2016 is neither Akufo Addo nor Alan but the difficulty they will find to rig again.

A lot of Ghanaians don't vote with their brains, and the poor economic conditions have little effect on their voting behaviours. Electorial faultlines have been developed along tribal lines and no amount of economic armageddon will force some tribes to switch their votes in favour of Akuffo Addo. Some tribes will massively vote against their own interest if only that will prevent a candidate from the hated tribe from winning.
