the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us .

MASSA KOFI, it's good you have seen and put things in the best possible light. This is an honest and reasonable piece. Yes, Donor Countries are withholding funds because the NDC Government of President John Mahama is brutally corrupt. Given the NDC Government's appalling proven track record of corruption, financial mismanagement and wasteful spending, the Donors, justifiably, don't want to 'prop up' a Corrupt NDC Government!
Isn't it completely insane for an independent country like Ghana, so rich in natural resources and mineral wealth to dependent heavily on Donor countries and foreign aid for its national budget? May be it is time the Donor countries 'abandon' Ghana.

I don't know what Ghana would be today if our country was like Burkina Foso, Mali Or Togo where natural resources are so scarce or very scanty. I cannot comprehend or fathom why a country like Ghana, which the Whiteman, in his own wisdom, named as The Gold Gold, a nation so endowed with rich and cultivable lands, cash crops and natural resources of any kind could be wallowing in such a contemptible poverty. We generate electricity to supply Togo and Benin when most Ghanaian sleep in Darkness with about half of the nation not connected to the national grid? We drill oil to feed China whilst fuel prices in our local markets is more expensive than all the greatest economies around the Globe. How can a Country like Ghana pay her ministers of state some $4000.00 per month, give them free accommodation, fuel their cars at the expense of the poor farmers and teachers, give them clothe allowance, free utility bills, government paid drivers, watchmen, cooks and house girls. And these buffoons have the guts to tell us "Edey bee keke", " yen tie obiaa", "are you my coequal " and freakishly fucking stuff like. We shamelessly pay humongous judgement debts to cronies for no work done when government worker have their bonafide pay in areas for several months. Is it not criminal for Mahama to personally by one saloon car and a pickup truck for one "Dr," Asemfofro who came public to thank the president for his kind gesture? Has Mahama got a hardcash minted machine in his home that makes the most generous Father Christmas of our times? Ghana will die, with this current crop of greedy politicians we have at the presidency. I don't think Ghana needs to run to any donor country for funds if we get competent and selflessly incorruptible leaders to run the nation. Rawlings, Kuffour, And Mahama, all of them don't deserve to leave several reasons. Is it not shameful to let EO group to get away with a whooping 3% proceed of our oil wealth. May Allah deal mercilessly with all those who have contributed to this mess.

As fellow commentator has remarked, some of us saw from the beginning that Mahama was not a leadership material but you and Bokor threw commonsense to the wind and lambasted all those who you thought were 'against' people.
Now 'we live to see' syndrome has come back to play and those us who could foretell events of the future have been vindicated.
Anyway Kofi Bravo for being straight forward on your first choice.

Maybe you should read up, Kofi, on the economic pictures of every major economic power nations of the world to find out that our donor nations are themselves indebted to China and to each other. It's about time we stopped being the bottom of the barrel nation where our leaders mortgage the future of generations of not yet born Ghanaians for the convenience of the now generation of do nothing and have no shame Ghanaians. Kofi do you think people of rural farming and fishing communities in Ghana where the trickle down government largesse never gets to hold out tin cans each day begging and hope against all hope that donors from above or from afar will provide for their daily existence? Being a certified beggar nation is not what you or anyone in the Diaspora should wish for or upon the living in Ghana; come up with feasible, plausible ideas and ideals for Ghana even if our boneheaded, incompetent, immoral leaders in parliament and the office of the president do not care to use rather than the advocacy of sustained beggar nation status most of you seem to delight as equitable

Kofi,
It is clear you had your fill of the Mahama shenanigans in the face of lackluster performance in a regime dragged by inability to take optimum best decisions fast. We have been told by Sgebefia by he and his former boss Mills don't think fast and so take decision slowly! Tweah! Commanders-in-Chief who can't take decisions fast, on the spur of the moment but must sleep on it for months, eh? Any wonders their troops are being slaughtered.
When I wrote Staying in the Frying Pan after the elections, I never expected that it'd be turned into a blistering cauldron!
Anyway, the wish to comment on two points you touched led me to write. I'll touch on only two, ghost workers and revenue leakages - my self-allotted time has almost run out.:-)
The problem of ghost workers has been with us for decades, starting from the 1960s. By the early 1970s, it had become a serious issue with tentacles to the powers-that-be. My Dad was an accountant, rising by the early 50s to head the Accounting Dept of John Holt Bartholomew with over 20 white and scores of African staff under him before resigning to start a private practice. He and his British partner, after liquidating the Damongo Settlement Scheme, were contracted by the CPP regime to set up the Accounting Dept. of the newly formed Workers Brigade. He was the substantive Deputy Financial Comptroller and his partner the Financial Comptroller. When he left, my father acted in his until they got another British but a useless one not as qualified as my Dad to fill the post. He also left and my Dad was acting again as the Financial Comptroller when the coup occurred. Since he didn't steal a penny and didn't accept the share of the booty some sector Ministers were ripping off the state through the WB, the NLC people couldn't touch him. Instead of rewarding him for being a faithful and patriotic citizen, they side-lined him and not paid even his full entitlements out of sheer jealousy even after winning a number of court judgements in the '70s! IGP Harlley (the man was married to an auntie with same maiden name like us) personally appealed to him not to be aggrieved after the coup, since there was too much complaints of too many Ewes in high positions, so he was sacrificed to satisfy you know whom interests. They started their own thing, dodgy, dodgy, and it ended in my ironing the shirt that fateful day for my father to appear before the Hearing in Camera which ended with the stepping down of Gen. Ankrah as Head of the NLC. The man was guilty as charge.
Anyway, by the early '70s with arrival of Kutu and his gang, my father's probity in the Accounting Dept of the Ministry where he was reshuffled to led to his being shunted to head the Personnel Dept. There, he said he discovered why the salary bill was unexplainable high: ghost workers! Of course, he took a big pair scissors to pruning them, something which caused alarm in higher places. He was promptly sent back to the Accounting Dept. and later absorbed into the Acct-Gen's Dept., or sort of. He refused to attend the interview which was supposed to make him Principal Accountant because his emoluments at the time surpassed that of the position! All along, he was on contract, being like a white man who was left behind when Ghana got independence. By the late '70s, he was the Accountant in charge of the Long Room in Tema with responsibility for KIA too. Talk about revenue leakages! Papa started plunging the holes too, beating allotted target with request that if he was given the free hand and support, he could raise ten times more! How? No time and space for that right now. The boy he thought he could trust who turned out to be the one behind forging his signature, etc., etc.? When he came home one day saddened and depressed about how he had to run personally to catch someone, we all got pissed up with him! His pressure was already bad. leading to the stroke that killed him eventually.
Yes, some of us know a lot about the rot in the system and can say with 100% certainty that successive govts have simply been toying with it. Even that of the PNDC. It is the PNDC's failure to carry out the necessary institutional reforms and changes that led to the resurgence of corruption with a vengeance from 1993.
