What was displayed on a grand scale on the world stage was a picture of a country which WAS plagued with ineptitude, indecision and plain foolishness. A country that WAS reactive and DIDN'T think of options upfront before starting a project. A nation with inexperienced ministers who don't know when to keep their mouths shut and what to disclose versus what not to disclose. A country without an plan.
My contribution is that the verbs in capitals should be in the present tense because Ghana still has those problems.
Only a sense/feeling of patriotism can move us forward.

Yes...those three did us a favor. The problems otherwise would have been hidden under the table, as the leadership tried to do. No one talks about the gesture of Muntari to the poor neglected black kids in Brazil. The media prefers to talk about the donations of others...but no real shine on anything African...or even how scared they were when it appeared Ghana was giving Germany a tough time with skilled play.

This is definitely a summary of all that is happening in our beloved country...we think by just praying, majically all things will fall in place in proper order. From the beginning, the current administration did not, and have not since, had a plan for the country. Everytime there is a ministerial shuffle, it should remind us again, that there is no plan or consistency of policy by our leaders, so anyone can be made a minister even if they have no skill or knowledge of the subject matter. Everything is based on self-serving now, now politics. When you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there. To think that despite all this, we tied and could have beaten Germany! Now, we are being further embarassed by official complicity with asylum seakers!!! When will this reality show end?

Thumbs up for all the participating countries. Congratulations to the eventual winners (Germany) and runners-up (Argentina).
As a Ghanaian, I asked myself whether the German team was beatable or not given our performance against the Germans. So what made the difference between the two teams?
I think the Germans adopted the right mix of the following:
• Perhaps a little bit of prayer (but I don’t want to believe they prayed louder than our players. (I’m referring to KPB’s views on this issue). Did the Germans set some good money aside for special prayers?;
• Hard work and planning/strategizing – as our team spent needless time haggling over money, the Germans no doubt focused on training and strategizing for the next match(es);
• Discipline and respect -- the German players have not been cited in any reported incidents of disrespecting their coach/technical and management teams; and
• Winning mentality -- the German players might not be as skillful as the Ghanaian players, but they take more pride in wearing the national jersey and winning the ultimate trophy for their motherland as opposed to some African players (including our own) who were whining about short-sighted personal benefits. What is $100k vis-à-vis possible multi-million contracts after a very successful campaign on the world stage?
The lessons are very bitter. And I know we’re not going to talk about the same issues four years down the line.

riding. The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they
changed positions.
Later, they passed some people who remarked, "What a shame, he makes that
little boy walk." They then decided they both would walk!
Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk
when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey.
Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying how awful to put
such a load on a poor donkey. The boy and man said they were probably
right, so they decided to carry the donkey.
As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell
into the river and drowned.
The moral of the story; "If you try to please everyone, you might as well
kiss your ass good-bye.

As the president commented at the recent Ecowas summit, "God is in control"so things will be fine regardless of what we do, so why bother planning for the future. As a people we have no control of our actions, so until God gets to Ghana in his high pile of "To do List" in his "In Tray", we will wallow in corruption and mismanagement and ineptitude and poverty.
Long live the God of Israel, Isaac and Jacob. We still await the God of Ghana.

The effects of a hurricane can be very devastating for those who failed to heed the warnings and counselling when it finally makes its landfall. It's a joyful end for those who heed the warnings and counselling and make the appropriate preparations for the impending future .
Again it's all about having the future in mind and preparing for it than having the future come upon us like a thief in the night. For Christian Ghana the parable of the ten virgins is about having a vision for the future and making the appropriate preparations for it to avoid disappointments. There were 5 wise virgins and 5 foolish virgins. We know now which of the two groups we belong to.
The Brazil failure is so symptonic of how we approach every business in Ghana, from the presidency level to the man in the street. We tend to overplay the hand of luck and refuse to take responsibility, always blaming everyone but us . Doing a proper analysis and finding the causes of failure is half the problem solved. In Ghana we like to sweep all the dirt under the carpet for fear of punishment, loss of favors and positions and shame should we take responsibility. There cannot be any healing without penitence and pain.
With all our immense natural and human resources we've reduced ourselves to a beggary nation status because we have no interest in the future. Corruption is so widespread about 9 out of every 10 ghanaians have been corrupt for at least a few times in their lives or are open to the practice should the opportunity present itself. When almost everyone is corrupt and have lost the moral right to punish other offenders we will continue to swim in it until we find how much damage it causes our national development. Meanwhile the various committes of enquiry are mere smokescreens. Nothing significant will come out of it and nothing significant will change. It's business as usual.

Nobody from any civilized country carries that amount of money on them.After several centuries of brushing shoulders with Europeans we still act primitive.
