Mayeb there were just enjoying the night life and scenes mingling with Ghanaians. You really get the feel of Accra-Tema joining a tro-tro than taking a taxi. There are many cheap and seedy motels in the Accra-Tema even the poorest back-packer can afford. If they dig the local bearded meat, some would be readily available for a night of bedmatics at such joints.:-)
Btw, I live in London and so can corroborate some of the things written here. I myself had told someone to sleep on a bus as I wasn't ready to let him sleep in my shop. I also told someone to get card boards ready during the day and then go and make a cosy sleeping place in an isolated phone booth. I got fantastic report the next day. It was better than trying to catch a sleep on a seat at the bus stop, I was told. I feel guilty about not taking such persons home to use my spare room - in fact, I did for a couple of students stranded briefly in London - but I can't be expected to be a hostel for the homeless in London.
As for sending students abroad to study for even first degrees with GETFUND, I had already written against it in comments. It is madness and very atrocious policy and must be stopped! Not a pesewa of the GETFUND should be used for such scholarships when pupils are still going to school under trees and in ramshackle structures! I have a draft of a full article on my desk top I should complete and publish one of these days.

Any politician who loot from national coffers to enrich himself and his family may the good Lord make the poor and vulnerable get access to those monies in Jesus name.
