I'm not taking sides in this issue, which I know only the publicised allegations about, and yes, they should have gone to the police, and in Germany the "journalist" of the original article (who wrote, that the police wouldn't take action and brush it under the carpet, as far as I can remember) would probably get prosecuted for publicising such accusations,
but oooh boy, you have lived in London tooo long, Mr. Rule-of-the-Law, "let it take it's course" into the cul-de-sac of corruption.
