Ghana has no region called Asante Region; we've Ashanti Region. Even if the two words mean the same thing, the People of the Republic of Ghana chose ASHANTI for the region.
To the best of my limited knowledge, the people whose king is Otumfuo are the Asantes. Thus, naming that region as Asante Region would have created a false impression that the place is for only Asantes. In reality, Otumfuo's Kingdom goes beyond the boundaries of Ashanti Region.
Thus, Ashanti Region demarcates a politically administered place and should not be confused with Asantes who are the aborigines of that place.
Careless or deliberate misuse of such words is what is resulting in the Ga people wanting Greater Accra to be renamed as Ga Region, Fantes in Cape Coast want Central Region be renamed Oguaa Region, Dagombas in Tamale wants Northern Region be renamed Dagbon Region and what have you.
We refuse to accept such ethnocentrism.
One Ghana, One people. I'm uninterested in politically divisive argument but respect your views herein expressed.

John Mahama did not even qualify to be a football manager let alone to be come a president of a sovereign nation but what do we see now? God choose David to led his people not because he was handsome but becuase he was able to protect his flocks without any harm from the predators. Any time i hear about SUBA, GYEEDA,WOYOMI,JUDGEMENT DEBTS ETC,my heart breed for Ghana, i asked myself do dark skin people in Afrika and Ghana at large reason and think well? Any time i hear ghanaians bragging about their education status quo i just laugh, the dark skin people problem is not about education but is about thinking and reasoning, this is what we lack as people. Japanese and South koreans developed their nation without resources, how about Ghanaians everything is in our disposal but foreigners and our few corrupt people are taking it and the rest of the people are in abject poverty. What is impeding us not to develop our nation? At this time and age we don't even know how to manufacture some simple things for domestic consunption, what is our purpose on this earth? Are we here as participators or commentators? Upon all our degrees we at the bottom pit in the world. Sleeping dogs when are we going to wake up to catch up with the world? Do God created dark skin people i really doubt it, Our intelligent level is too low and it's a fact take it or leave it, how can a president pay interest to a loan he never get the money he opted for? This can happened only in Afrika Ghana to be precise where corruption, stupidy, foolishness, greedy, selfish is their culture. Mahama who can not even rear five cows is now a president of Ghana it's a lesson for everyone.

A win for the Black Stars would never have been reported as a win for the NDC. Indeed, that team was always referred to as Ghana. As in the military one salutes the insignia and not the person over whose shoulder it's displayed, support for Ghana should not be dependent on whether it's the fox or the wolf who does his pilfering from the Castle at Osu.
By deciding to "throw my full-heft behind Team-USA." over Ghana, you explicitly disavowed the country, and implicitly severed that sacred attachment towards that country of your birth and infant nurture. More Okoampish-speaking, you've thrown the baby out with the bath water. That is never prudent, but rather an impulsive quirk.
