This is common sense at its best. The author started with good analogies that make the article interesting to read. I learnt more, including the statistic /figures on number of caps with regards to various players and the remuneration package for various coaches as well.
Spain and England are big teams that are definitely not going through to the next round. Does it mean that we should only give positive comments if even the team’s performance is below our own standards or take consolation in the big name failures and walk away without complaining?
There’s no logic and common sense in football – extremely high wages and salaries involved, supporters’ behaviour and hooliganism, victimisation of player’s and their families if they miss easy chances, etc. Football is the only business where those involved can still buy and sell human beings in the open market.
Trying to introduce common sense and logic in football will be a tall order.
