Accordingly, this single act alone (among uncountable others committed by Rawlings, such as Mabey & Johnson, $20M free money to Juliet Cotton, Dan Abodakpi & Victor Selormey's physical and proven-beyond-all-doubts stealing of public funds) should take every moral right from Rawling's hands to accuse others of corruption.

Its aims and ideals earned the massive support of the great majority of ghanaians who over the years had learned through experience to loathe dictatorship of any kind, civilian or military. In spite of its promises of freedom, integrity, probity, accountability and better living conditions, June 4th was delivered stillborn to its followers.The spirit of the revolution could not survive a massive heart attack soon after its launch. You see talking the talk with great oratorial skill is far different from walking the walk when you come face to face with two devils, ie. the grim realities of everyday life and the temptations associated with high political office.
While the Rawlings (es), Ahwoi brothers, the Tsikata (s), P.V.Obeng, Selormey, Ibrahim Adam etc, found solace in new sources of material wealth the economy dipped in leaps and bounds,the cedi accelerated its free fall and caused millions to slip over the edge where they had been hanging dangerously.
There are too many questions begging for answers. If the architects of the revolution believed and still believe in integrity, probity and accountability and insist their hands are clean then I suggest we trash the indemnity clause of the 1992 constitution and pardon some of the excesses of the time. That will set the stage for an international court of enquiry which will give each of the "integrity apostles" unhindered opportunity to account for every penny, from the day they bulldozed their way into office to date.
The voice of the people is the voice of God. The revolution saw the light of day because it enjoyed massive support. The voice of the people was behind the uprising. The revolutionary wild bunch recognized, respected and cherished it then. Why can't Rawlings and co yield to the voice of the people today, submit themselves to public scrutiny and clear their names of the numerous suspicions of wrongdoing while in office? Don't we the people need to know all that they did in our name, how much they were worth in 1979, how much they are worth today, and the source of their wealth?
The preachers of probity, integrity and accountability and their vociferous supporters should have no problem with this public enquiry. It's for their own good and the well-being of the nation. It'll set the records straight for ever.
Since the celebration of June Fourth evokes so much emotion but touches millions of raw nerves it has become a national contentious and divisive issue. In the pursuance of national peace, stability and unity the time has come for us as a nation to put it on the ballot in the next general election whether it's worth celebrating or not. This is what democracy is about. Let's set the records straight once and for all, for present and future generations. A stitch in time saves nine.
