Even Bill Gates did not make that amount in that short period . JJ has kept quiet i dont see him organizing soldiers to go and kill the Mahamas like he did to Acheampong and the rest . The only reason for Rawlings' behavior is because there is no intellectual or judicial courage to seek redress. Rawlings is a murderer and a thief; the facts are there. He murdered innocent people for revenge. Rawlings, himself, approved the lists of the people to murder during the AFRC days. It was not due to any anger within Ghana; that anger would have been satisfied with a simple trial and incarceration. The murders were based on Rawlings and his accomplices' vendetta.
As far as theft goes, Rawlings started stealing from Ghana way back in 1979. And he has continued stealing from Ghana even as recently as a few weeks ago. For those who remember, Rawlings reported in the media that the AFRC collected over 300 million cedis during the "accountability days" of 1979, but left only about 30 million of that amount to the Limann government. Just a few weeks ago, Tony Lithur "won" about $4.9 million for his mystery client, Rawlings. Justice Apau cowardly approved the judgment debt throwing popcorn questions to Tony Lithur.
No one challenges Rawlings, so he feels more emboldened to continue misbehaving. He accounted to nobody for 19 years when he was in power, and has continued to do so for another 16 years since leaving power. Murder is murder, and theft is theft. If the Indemnity Clause shields murderers and thieves, then there is no constitution. Rawlings can be prosecuted under the fourth Republican Constitution. He can also be prosecuted at the International Criminal Court. Rawlings, like anyone else in Ghana, must pay for his crimes.

At secondary school, we all supported the premise of the uprising. But as time passed, a lot of us realized that the uprising had turned into loot, vengeance, and self-aggrandizement.
We all were young so we could not see through the lies and contradictions. For teenages, we thought a 28-year old was matured. But in our fifties, we know that a 28-year old is not fully developed for a lot of responsibilities, let alone to lead a country.
Rawlings' salary was more than 75% of the armed forces, but he could not make ends meet. There were people who made far less than he made and had far more responsibility than he had, but were able to take care of their families. Rawlings was not disciplined, and is still not disciplined. He demands "special" entitlement, and the "black men" are willing to give him that. To Papillon, do you think Ghanaians would have accommodated Rawlings, with all the crimes he has committed, if he was not considered a "white" person by the ignorant Ghanaians? He knows he can deceive people like you as he deceived countless Ghanaians. You will come around to see through his deceit, sooner or later.
No one liked the SMC, but history shows that the SMC was better than the AFRC and, later, PNDC. Ghana did not stand still during Rawlings' rule; Ghana rather retrogressed. Tell me ONE thing Rawlings did that can merit the 19 years mis-rule. Rawlings is nothing but a con artist.
