2. There mutual respect and camaraderie between Essien, Muntari, Gyan, and KPG. Essien, Muntari and KPG have links with AC Milan, therefore they will relate well on the field. Same goes with K. Asamoah and Agyeman Badu during their days at Udinese. Also Gyan and Muntari at Sunderland etc

3. Essien has a calm personality and I can envision some of the 'hot heads' on the Black Stars team responding to him positively should things go wayward.

4. Essien knows this 'may' be his last world cup and trust me, in a good day he would love to retire with a bang! Essien would have been Ghana's number 1 pick in 2010 had it not been for injuries.....so he will try everything possible to deliver,

5. In a good day Essien can read the game and create stability in the midfield, something that only experienced players can offer.

6. In the 6-1 defeat of Egypt, Essien's dash, dribbling and subsequent goal off of Gomaa, shows that the 'bison' still has a killer instinct, and that his team mates mobbed him in respect for such a dash.

7. For the sake of leadership, experience, expertise and calmness, I would include him. However AA knows best who to drop, and it should not have anything to do with Donovan.

The Zambia Coach said this over and over. And against Egypt he was in control. That 2nd goal? he wanted to pass but all passing avenues had been blocked so he decide d to go, then he had to go again and again, and the goal came. It was delight watching him dribble his way like a striker and when he thought it was enough and had to pass the strongest of the security men around, Gomaa him diverted the ball into the net. Later this same Gomaa gave ESSIEN a huge knock on his head. Essien quietly endured the pain as his punishment for disgracing him, the estwhile Egyptian hero- Captain, now sacked.

The adage “you can’t deceive nature” goes with students who try to study all night and then also stay awake during the day. Yes, it can be applied to football, but does not “go with” football as you say.

Brazil can afford to kick Kaka and Ronaldinho out of their squad because they have so much talent to choose from. Just because Brazil has done something does not mean we should also copy blindly. Why the reference to a white coach? Can’t you just say “any competent coach”? People like Raymond Yeboah have an inferiority complex. They think Brazil and white people are better than Africans. Go to UK, USA, Germany etc, and check who are the doctors that staff their hospitals………. The doctors are mostly Ghanaians, Nigerians and Indians. Stop feeling that the white man is better than you.
Our talent pool in Ghana is not as deep as Brazil. Essien is one of the players who has played competitive football at the highest levels. Even if he does not have the same “Engine” as before, he still has a footballing brain. Youngsters in the squad will gain confidence and play better if Essien is in the squad. Essien should adapt his game to rely less on running and more on using his brain to play through passes and create opportunities, the same way Ryan Giggs has reinvented his game from a pacey winger to what he is today.
For the above reasons, Essien must go to the world cup.

Let me break down the body and soul of this article which primarily concerns Micheal Essien but predominantly affects football as a whole.(FACTS) Most football players decrease their playing age at youth level in Africa, Europe, North America, South America and the likes.(REALITY)The age decrease affects players performance greatly because these players age will be 28 years instead of 34 years which is known by most football fans to be an age for retirement or very close for retirement and in most cases already retire for national assignment except club football.(OPINIONS) No one really knows the real age of Micheal Essien and the other national team players. To end it all, I have personally known some of these players and their real age. I sometimes laugh when I here the age of some of the players announced on the television or radio.One reality that I know is that countries that wins the world cup enforce on its players having the true age during the players early days in order to get them (players) ready for important events like world cup whether youth level or senior level. It is yet time for the Ghana F.A to lay out plans to combat this acts which to me is costing the African continent to ever win the world cup.

If he is included in final team, I would say he paid his way to be in or somebody pressured Appiah to succumb to their wish. If this so happens, then Appiah's credibility is questioned although Ghana have qualified to be in the tournament. This tournament will prove how tactical Appiah is.
