Tell us any government industry or factory that is profitable. Our problem in Ghana and for that matter Africa is that, we think government should provide citizens with jobs, that is not the function of government.
Government should rather create an environment conducive for private industries to thrive and employ people. This is the problem we have in Ghana now.
We have 700,000 government workers accounting for 70 percent of government revenue when we can run the government with 300,000.
Vodafone bought GT with 6500 workers losing$50 million a year. It reduced the workforce by laying off 4200 people off by giving them cash incentives. Vodafone is now being profitable with 2300 doing the work 6500 government workers were doing and losing money.
People get government jobs and work three hours daily instead of the eight hours expected and ran the business aground without any punishment. We have the mentality of "ABAN ADWUMA" ,to wit, government job and don't care what we do.
That attitude has been discovered everywhere including Soviet union. When Soviet union broke up, they found government was not operating well because four people were doing every government job that should be done by one person.

So if any state-owned enterprise is being mismanaged, it should be sold? Ridiculous! Did you consider the welfare and whereabouts of the over 4000 redeployed Ghanaians?
What is NPP saying about the sale of Merchant Bank? In the end, Ghana will be a TENANT STATE.

My nephew who played for Bayern Munich and Blackstars name is Sammuel (Sammy) Osei -Kuffour. I went to school with a lot of people named Kuffour and that name is always spelled with two "F's" not one "F" but if President Kuffour's name is spelled with one F, so be it.
I will respond to your other childish argument comprehensively when I come back from this important meeting, you can count on it.
Any Akan can tell you Kuffour is spelled with double "F" not one. I doubt if you are Akan or you would not have embarked on this triviality nonsense. Get a life, will you?

I can't comment if $900m was the right amount for the company. I don't know if some NPP people go rich from the deal. I do know that Vodafone is the world's largest network and that strength and resources can be called upon by the Ghanaian operations.
I am also wondering where all the NDC personnel who were calling for the reversal of the deal when they were in opposition? I respect the civil society groups who didn't think it was the right moral transaction (although I disagree with them) but they at least are holding to their convictions. The NDC stopped shouting from the mountain top as soon as they got into power. No one tried to reverse the deal. Why not?

First, get it out of your head that the state of Ghana is managing any factory or industry profitably. Name one government factory or industry operating profitably. I am against government operating factories and industries except Water and electricity supply.
Even petrol importation and pricing should be left in the hands of private companies to avoid government monopoly and shortage of supply.
Dr Kwame Nkrumah building factories when the country attained independence was in the right direction initially because we did not have individuals with the financial ability to embark on those projects but those factories and industries should have been privatized five years after it being established. Do you know that all those Nkrumah factories in 1965 were operating at only 25% of their capacity and losing money?
I just don't know why some of you fools are still supporting government operated industries when countries like Russia, China, and other socialist countries have abandoned that economic foolishness and are now supporting private operated companies for economic advancement.
Only in Africa and for that matter Ghana that you still see fools agitating for government to operate Airlines, Telecoms and other industries.

WHEN KUFFOUR SAW MISMANAGEMENT HE SHOULD HAVE ENGAGED GHANAIANS TO TURN A NEW LEAF,HE SHOULD HAVE USED THE BULLY PULPIT TO EDUCATE AND ENCOURAGE GHANAIANS TO ABANDON KALABULE, LAZINESS,NEPOTISM AND OTHER VICES AND EMBRACE HARD HONEST WORK, INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY, INCREASE GDP ETC.. HE SHOULD'VE LED BY EXAMPLE. INSTEAD WHAT DID HE DO? HE SAID BRIBERY STARTED IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN AND SO HE LED THE WAY BLEEDING THE NATION DRY BY SELLING AMONG OTHER THINGS GT. RAWLINGS DID THE SAME. KUFFOUR COULD'VE PROSECUTED THE RAWLINGS GOV'T FOR WRECKING THE NATION. BUT HE DID NOT. INSTEAD HE CHOSE TO WRECK IT SOME MORE. NOW ALL OF YOU KUFFOUR SYMPATHISERS ARGUE THAT RAWLINGS RANSACKED STATE COFERS AND SO KUFFOUR HAS THE RIGHT TO DO THE SAME. ITS SHAME A THAT EVEN ACHEAMPONG DID BETTER THAN BOTH KUFFOUR AND RAWLINGS. A BETTER SOLUTION IS THAT GHANAIANS HAVE TO CHANGE AND THEY NEED A LEADER TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE. KUFFOUR, MAHAMA, RAWLINGS ALL HAVE HAD THE CHANCE AND THEY'VE BLOWN IT! MANDELA LED BY EXAMPLE. GHANDI LED BY EXAMPLE. GEORGE WASHINGTON LED BY EXAMPLE! PEOPLE CAN CHANGE AND WILL CHANGE UNDER THE RIGHT LEADERSHIP. CARDINAL LIKES TO CALL PEOPLE CHILDISH WHEN THEY QUESTION OUR LEADERS' INTEGRITY AND ACTIONS. BUT IT IS LEADERS LIKE KUFFOUR, RAWLINGS, MAHAMA WHO ARE CHILDISH! GHANA IS SLOWLY SINKING AND ALL THEY HAVE DONE IS STEAL FROM THE PEOPLE. YOU SEE CARDINAL THIS IS THE PROBLEM WE NEED TO CONFRONT. THE PROBLEM IS US! AND WE NEED LEADERS WHO ARE NOT THIEVES, WHO WILL TELL US THE TRUTH AND LEAD THE WAY BY EXAMPLE. FOR ALL HIS MISTAKES AS PRESIDENT, NKRUMAH HAD NO SWISS BANK ACCOUNT! HE DIED A VERY POOR MAN, MATERIALLY, THAT IS. IF I WERE A BETTING MAN, I'D BET YOU KUFFOUR, MAHAMA, RAWLINGS ALL HAVE A SWISS BANK ACCOUNT! THEY'RE FILTHY RICH AND THEY DIDN'T WORK FOR IT: THEY STOLE IT FROM THE PEOPLE OF GHANA. THIS IS THE EXAMPLE AND LEGACY THEY HAVE LEFT. THIS WHY THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. Rawlings sold 30 percent of to Telecom Malay and has over staffed GT with Ndc zealots and tribesmen by 4000 people who were just a drag on GT resources. If Kuffour had decided to restructure GT by laying off the 4000 workers most of them Ewes due to Rawlings tribalistic hiring policies, he would have been attacked like Busiah in the famous Salah debacle.

The immediate former president is JOHN KOFI AGYEKUM KUFUOR.
First let's cut the childish foolishness out. Whether it's Kuffour or Kufour is not of material importance but I can tell you as an Akan related to people named Kuffour that, the correct spelling of the name is KUFFOUR.
