Dr Ohemeng, I couldn't agree with you more on NPP's claim that Ghanaians made mistake in voting for NDC in 2008 and 2012 as well believing that Ghanaians are waiting for 2016 to vote for the party massively. Whenever, I hear or read leading figures of the party make these claims, I wonder what were the basis of such claims. It is not only an indication of arrogance but also disrespect to the electorate as well as ignorance and lack of understanding of the Ghanaian political landscape. Above all, it is also delusional and part of the party's inability to secure victory in the last two elections and unless they sit up and analyse why they lost the elections instead of blaming the voters for making mistakes with their choices, then they may remain in opposition for the third consecutive electoral year.
I am glad you are saying these because for some of us when we point out these lapses of the party, they see us as anti NPP or pro NDC. I hope some of them will read your article and begin to do some soul searching. Happy Easter.

the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us . Long live the Republic of Akan

You are not serious. The learned doctor has written a very nice "Food for Thought" article for your consumption, but because you did not understand it(probably because you have a very low IQ), you are writing garbage. This is what the Dr. is admonishing. You can arrogate to yourself the title God's nation of Africa or even more, but the bottom line is that you, in particular, do not reason well.
I always think and become sad that some northerners are in NPP! But, that is life.
Shut up, you fool.

How can a former minister of state speak like this? He is either forgotten or in denial that there are strong NDC voters who will vote NDC come what may and they are in their millions. To make such sweeping statement of abuse puts off some independent voters. It creates the erroneous impression that only NPP and its voters are sensible. It's sad.

It may be true that voters at times make 'wrong' choices but he who wants their votes has to persuade them to this fact in all humility. Talking down to them is not the way to go about it.
In all these, my interest is Ghana. It is about time we up the game in our political discourse, irrespective of where you belong. I will criticise the NPP with as much vigour as the NDC, even though I know where my heart is.
Happy Easter too my brother.

Dr. Ohemeng, I agree with your view point on how we are busy bickering and posturing when the electorate are looking up to the NPP to offer an alternative government. The social media has become a battle ground where parochial and damaging positions are espoused by all kinds of persons. I guess we have to live with the reality of cyberspace. My concern is the level of the discourse which tends to be insulting, vituperative and most un-edifiying. Cyberspace is not being used for education and attracting positive attention to the NPP.The posture and statements of party bigwigs and leaders is even more disturbing, when you expect them to bring more gravitas to the discourse, they rather muddy the waters the more with self centred responses and statements. To conclude: we must learn to be measured in our contributions and public discussions. The essence of joining political parties like our NPP is not to draw a small circle and engage in family fisticuffs , our duty is to win political power having presented ourselves as a credible alternative to the current government. It is the electorate who make the decision and not just members of our Party alone. We must wake up and smell the coffee. Maybe some of us have become so insular that we are not listening to Ghanaians. They believe in us,let's project the right image, court the floating voter, coral our large and growing support base and work assiduosly and strategically towards 2016. My humble contribution .

What the opposition parties should do is watch the EC closely. If they notice any fraudulent activities or processes shrouded in secrecy, they should boycott the elections and declare the govt. /parliament, all appointments illegitimate, and embark continuous civil strife.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the hall mark of the NPP, anybody and everybody goes to radio/tv or the social media to say anything he or she wishes. Many sympathisers of liberal democracy are missing Uncle da Rocha.
I personally suspect that is what Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey meant by being "too accommodating and not cracking the whip enough." I sincerely hope that the new Chairman will work with Kwabena Agyapong to rein in these loud mouths! Where were they during the 8 months of the Supreme Court hearing? What did they do by way of assembling evidence for the case?
How about their getting together with students of Sequel and Excel to purge the electoral register of multiple registration, to show the EC that IT CAN be done?
One suspects that the NPP constitution runs along the same lines as the Democratic or Republican Party in America, according to which leadership of the party reverts to the Chairman and the General Secretary, especially after the loss of an election. In that case, is it not outragaeous for any Dick, Tom or Harry to arrogate "spokesman position" to himself.
Why don't those who wish to fight to be flagbearers wait till nominations are open, instead of using school boy assistants to spew garbage on the social media?
I hope the new Chairman of the party will go to work quickly and begin to read the riot act to those who are beginning to create unnecessary enemies to the party!

Well said sir; this is the most factual article I have read in a long time regarding NPP's chances for wining the 2016 elections. While they are arguing and pulling each other down, the NDC is seriously planning on how they are going to rig the elections to retain power. They know they cannot win on their abysmal performances and unfulfilled promises to the people therefore, they are hacking a master plan to win by any means necessary. Our appeal to the so called founding fathers and bigwigs is to put on their thinking caps and stop this nonsense of pulling each other and the party down and work on election reforms, unite and work together and bring a campaign message that will bring hope to all Ghanaians. Are you listening to us?
