It is very clear that the unbridled corruption of the Mahama led NDC gov't is threatening the social and economic fabric of the nation, and it poses very dire consequences for the growth and development of the nation, in a transparent and accountable manner. Time and again, the actions and inactions of the Mahama led NDC gov't brings the issues of accountable and democratic governance into disrepute, further inflicting on the masses untold hardships and suffering, whilst, the looters waltz leisurely to the bank. It is in the same vein that a report from Kwakye Ofosu- a deputy minister of Information to explain away gov'ts expenditure of over Gh8.7billion on 17th February, 2014, rather cemented the fact that indeed, a whooping sum of close to Gh5billion could not be accounted for, under very inexplicable circumstances, which is believed to have been looted to further the retention of the NDC gov't in power at all cost. These actions have all contributed to the very crisis in which the economy of the country finds itself under the Mahama NDC gov't, and it's extremely important that, the legislative branch of gov't, the media, CSO's, accountability groups, committees, the clergy, etc, etc, ensure that, the brazen corruption which is threatening to banish our dear country Ghana, into the abyss is reversed by providing the effective checks and balances in gov't expenditure, to ensure that the greater public good is served in a transparent, effective and accountable democracy. Ghana deserves better.

“This agreement cannot be allowed to stand. The nation is being short-changed and Parliament must rise up in unison to confront this apparent malfeasance,” noted the Minority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
Surely, this colossal amount of over $300million dollars should provide a lot more than expansion works at Ridge Hospital. It should provide us at least three of such hospitals in our most deprived communities, together with residential accommodation for hospital staff, transport, ambulances etc, etc, opening up such communities and also getting critical medical personnel to such areas, who would hitherto, not accept to go to such areas.
The level of rot and malfeasance on display and the stinking corruption that has become the main focus of governance under the NDC gov't led by John Mahama/Amissah Arthur, is manifestly unacceptable, and it's crippling the economy and the nation. The Mahama led NDC gov't has taken graft, sleaze, thievery and corruption to a different level, and pushing the boundaries of rational thinking in a democratic society where there should be checks and balances, to ensure that, the masses enjoy value for money in the day to day affairs of governance. Unfortunately, it is becoming clear that this value for money proposition is completely lost on the Mahama/Amissah Arthur led NDC gov't. The kleptocratic nature of governance under the NDC gov't has crippled the country and until there's a serious and concerted push back against this nation wrecking onslaught of unprecedented porprtions, there would be no future of prosperity but a vicious cycle of hopelessness, despair and poverty. Well meaning, right thinking and fair minded Ghanaians need to support the legislative branch of gov't to ensure that, this wanton acts of sleaze and rotten malfeasance is halted. Ghana deserves better.

The Jersey City Planning Board voted unanimously last night to recommend amending the McGinley Square East Rehabilitation Area plan to allow Saint Peter’s University to add 100 feet to its planned building there and to include a park in the plan.
“I feel for the people who came here and spoke tonight because, yes they will live in the shadow of this building,” said board member John Seborowski before voting yes. “I don’t know that it is in the best interest of the people who live there, but it sounds like it is a positive for the city.”
The proposed building, to be built across Montgomery Street from the Jersey City Armory, was originally to be 17 feet tall and 17 stories but Saint Peter’s now wants it to be 275 feet with 21 stories.
Numerous residents spoke against the amendment and said they had concerns about the project in general. A handful spoke in favor.
The board’s recommendation must go before the city council. If the council votes to amend, at some point Saint Peter’s will provide a site plan for the building to the planning board for approval. At that time, a far more extensive examination of the proposal will be undertaken, including traffic studies and other issues that will affect residents.
At street level, the building would have 45,000 square feet of retail space, including an organic supermarket, a bank and a fast-food restaurant and other stores. Inside would be a grand lobby for a 13-screen cinema on the second floor. The floors above would include areas of apartments and a dorm area. On the 20th floor would be two penthouse restaurants with 20-foot glass windows facing Manhattan. It would have a rooftop swimming pool, Saint Peters officials said.
The original proposal did not consider the cinema’s 32-foot-high ceiling and the penthouse restaurants’ 20-feet-tall ceilings.
Also, because the $220 million project will include the cost of building a 4-story underground parking deck with more than 700 parking spaces at a cost $40 million, some additional apartments will be added to offset the cost, Saint Peter’s officials said.
They also seek to include a park at the intersection of Montgomery Street and Bergen Avenue. An artist’s rendering of the park was shown, including a lawn, fountain in summer, ice skating rink in the winter.
“This project we are building and a companion project, the park, which the city is building, will be transformational for the area and then the rest of the area will fill in, as well as the corridor on Bergen to Journal Square,” said Michael Fazio, vice president for external affairs for Saint Peter’s, who called the university’s building “the anchor of the redevelopment.”
Resident Rigo Rodriguez cautioned board members, saying, “They have gone to great length to say this park is not part of this project. They are only using it as a selling point. They are not going to pay for it, support it, maintain it. I urge you not to consider the park at all as part of this.”
“They are not offering to enhance the infrastructure … what are they giving the community?” said Kara Hrabosky of the Duncan Avenue Neighborhood Association.
Numerous concerns were raised by residents, including an increase in density in an already crowded area and its impact on traffic, schools, residents and businesses already underserved by public transportation.

Three contractors were bidding to fix a broken fence at the Flagstaff
house. One was from China , another from Ghana and the third, from
Nigeria .
They went with Mr Shogologo a Flagstaff official to examine the fence.
The Ghanaian contractor took out a tape measure and did some measuring,
then works some figures with a pencil. "Well", he says, "I figure the job
will run about $900. ($400 for materials, $400 for my team and $100 profit
for me)".
The Chinese contractor also did some measuring and figuring, then says, "I
can do this job for $700. ($300 for materials, $300 for my team and $100
profit for me)".
The Ghanaian contractor didn't measure or figure, but leans over to Mr Shogologo
Flagstaff official and whispers, "$2,700."
The official says, incredulous, "You didn't even measure like the other
guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"
The Ghanaian contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we
hire the guy from China to fix the fence."

Wake up. The people you are supporting are taking you for a fool and could care less about you. How many people from your hometown are living the dream, and how many are suffering? NPP could not carry Ghana forward the way people expected, so they were voted out and replaced by the NDC. The question I have for you is this: are Ghanaians better off today than they were before this NDC government came to power? Be honest with yourself.
The government seems overwhelmed by the challenges currently facing the nation, and the only logical option is for the electorate to courageously replace them. This is the essence of democratic governance. If, in the future, another party comes and goofs off, then that party will also be replaced. So let's not keep what is not working but making us suffer just because we have a blind liking for it. Let's all wake up.
