How refreshing to read thr truth! I have always argued that Ghanaians are very deceptive by nature and never accept the fact that we are the cause of our own downfall. Let this be a clarion call to every well-meaning citizen to roll up your sleeves and go out there and work your socks off GENUINELY for just 3 months and see where our economic indicators will point to. Talking about eating chemical-laden imported food and thinking we're enjoying ourselves; we really have no idea why we are dying in our numbers at increasingly younger ages do we? Did you read last week about Ghana being among the top 10 countries where cancer rates are soaring? That is only the tip of the iceberg unless we WAKE UP from our deep coma and do something about our health, starting with our eating habits. You certainly hit the nail on the head Kwaku and I'm heartened to know I have compatriots like you.

Why does the flock of sheep need a shepherd? By the way, there's a marked difference between the shepherd and the sheep herder.
We need leaders as supervisors, managers, etc, at every work environment because there are workers. Generally, workers tend to slack when there's no effective leadership presence.
Ghana is endowed with enough human and natural resources to produce enough prosperity for all of its citizens but it's the typical workplace environment without an efficient and effective management team.
I have travelled quite a bit and I know ghanaians are and can be just as good and equally as ill-motivated as any people anywhere.
What lack we yet? Inspired leaders with a vision and mission to redeem, motivate, inspire and re-ignite the fire of enthusiasm and hope in a moribund and decadent society.
People work because they have a reason to. The farmer sows the seed because he can count on the harvest. Mr Adu Gyamfi, Asuom has a secondary school today because of visionaries and inspired leaders like my uncle, Mr Charles Donkor and his buddy, Mr Kyei Ampofo. They led and the people followed.
Nature abhors a vaccum.
In Ghana today, in order to fill the void in true leadership we have accepted the present bunch of pen and armed robbers as our pace and trend setters.
For a very long time we've been a nation in search of our destiny. In 1979, it appeared we had at last found a true leader in Rawlings but he turned out a huge disappointment and failure. He came in the nick of time all fired up, rode the crest of popularity and was ready to go. His bubble burst and fizzled out as quickly as he came. Today he joins the ranks of the could-have-beens and sinking fast into oblivion. That was a missed opportunity. I'm not too fond of him like some people are but if he bore any semblance of a Moses in any figment of iimagination who was unable to lead his people to the"promised land", where then is our "Joshua"? We're still stranded in the wilderness and still searching for the true leader. With the right type of leadership we'll see attitudinal shift in the people. They'll then work with willingness and with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm because they share the vision of their worker-in-chief. Who needs a commander-in-chief (slave driver?) when we have a worker-in-chief?
