We need ppl like them to whip us before we get basic things done. Democracy isnt for the black man.
Unfortunately such leaders are never loved by some people because of their ability to step on toes but if it works for the majority who cares?
Okoampa, im also glad you have realzed that there is good and evil in every one.

Col Nkegbe served in the Acheampong regime not PNDC. I think this article is worth reading.

You talk lots on democracy and sudden you turn to approve dictatorship. We are in the 21st century and l expected you know better. You can force the donkey to the river, but can't force it drink. Wise up

i remember in my childhood days my dad will bring posters home captioned know your commissioners, know your regional commissioner, know your nrc/smc members and the name nkegbe was one of the names that stroke me most. i was an exciting & excellent civics pupil not only in my class but i was revered in the whole school because i had information on my finger tips.
i am ver much touched by this. in 1989 i got admission into a reputable sixth form in accra. i was amongst the first 10 selected for my lower 6th form class of 45. but on the opening day i could not find a sit in a class packed with over 100 students majority of them had grades not near what i got.
i also remember with the exception of one master(who was doing some very brisk business with teaching though) some of the others you had to chase them to come and teach you in the second period as the first period was always bound to be spent on attending to personal matters.
For those commentators here who have resorted to playing the tribal card, it is very possible the NGEGBE may not be an ewe name. Even if it were some of our past heads of state were not tribalistic although mr kuffour, professor mills & mr mahama could have done better

Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, please grade your own paper and tell us what grade its worth had it been submitted by one of your students? I see no need in going into Mr. Awauh's published article but to take a look at what you submitted relative to that of Patrick Awauh. You asserted or inferred you concur with the three issues raised by Mr. Awuah and gave a fourth attribute of your own. What you wrote was "... to me that what is sorely lacking is the woeful underfunding of our public educational system, which directly translates into the dearth supply of teaching materials and other quality-enhancing facilities, such as well-equipped laboratories, up-to-date and culturally relevant textbooks and modern physical plants" which by any measure refer to the physical structures and hardware teaching tools.
Yet you and fellow yahoo's of the NPP through various yapping sessions, articles and misguided policy presentations have lured most of Ghana under-educated and uneducated bunch to think there is some wisdom in a cheap thrill free education bantered around by the NPP and or NDC. You Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe will not teach in most classrooms in Ghana if you made the salary you make in your neck of the woods in the USA. Yet you have failed to lead in a fight to expose this NPP party dogma of free education which may save parents some peanuts money but will not dent the problems of Ghana’s education which must and should start with physical structures fit for humans. It is when these physical and hardware needs are met that students who come out of Ghana’s universities aspiring to be teachers can become good, reliable and prolific teachers to future students in classroom fit for humans and for learning.

Abeeku , I always read your pieces as you talk a lot of sense. I agree with you. teaching MUST be made respectable again if you hope to attract the best personnel
