The free shs campaign is wrong and ineffective else Nana Addo should have been in power since 2008 general elections. On the other,NPP can unseat Mahama easily with socio-economic negative impact campaign but not with another ineffective free shs. What I am trying to convey is that both Nana Addo and NPP could not give explicit defination of how they were going to finance the free shs.Even more damaging is their childish attacks on the president that the timing is bad and the program is not feasible under presnt economic situation. How wise do you think it is for NPP to come back and tell the electorate that NPP can now do it under the same troubling ec onomic crises if you want? This shs campaign is death on arrival,my friend. Please look for a new paradigm,a new face,a new political rhetorics and a new message.Thank you.

Principle politics does not mean that you ran away from your policies: you calibrate them withing present day conditions. Even in this era of economic difficulties, we still can find GHC1.0bn to be squandered on GYEEDA with no accountability. Certainly priorities can be re-arranged to fund education if the leaders have the will. Besides competent running of the economy can create the fiscal space.
If I had to choose between the NDC and the NPP in competence of running our economy, I know who will come up tops.
The NPP will abandon this policy at their peril. It will signal they are only about winning elections and not caring about GHana. If they do care about Ghana, their policies should endure, even at a time that their arch rivals are copying them.
Immitation, they say, is the highest form of flattery.

Yaw, this is a very interesting piece. I also wondered if the NPP would take advantage of this obvious political/economic blunder by the president. As usual, in trying to steal the wind out of NPP's sails as they did with the NHIA and SSSS policies, the NDC have shot themselves in the foot!
What is a paltry 71million cedis going to do in offering even free kindergarten education?
I have quoted a statement you made in your posting yesterday. What exactly did GNPC spend that much money on? The corporation was probably spending less $500,000 a year on training when it had over 900 employees. Now they are probably less than 300(?) On how many degree programmes, short and long-term industry training programmes, etc, was this colossal sum spent? That is the clue to offering free education for ALL Ghanaians up to age 18.
Prudent mobilisation and use of all available resources and plugging the bottomless holes that have been used for the "create, loot and share scams." There is no rocket sicence about it!
Have a great day.

Nothing stops akufo addo and the npp from campaigning on fee free education come the next elections. how many schools did the npp build for the eight years that they in power? doctor answer this question.

Dr. Yaw Ohemeng I say to you your tribal bigotry is undeserving of the so-called doctorate degree you carry on your chest. Simply put you are not the best example of the benefits a nation derive or can derive out of its educated elite class.
Let me prove to you that what you and others fail at each time you talk about free school is nothing more than laying the foundations for political party operatives to steal money from the national coffers. In this case your own analysis reveals the inadequate amount offered by the John Mahama's NDC administration. I am all ears Dr. Ohemeng. Where and why you goofed like everyone else is that your tribal and political party ego did allow you to propose bells and whistles to the NPP free education proposal. For if you believe in your incomplete funding analysis of what it would cost Ghana for the NDC brand of free education why then did you not provide at least your educated estimated cost for the NPP brand of free education along with the bells and whistle you offer? It is not surprising to me at all that tribal bigotry has no limit even more so with Ghana's educated class because you have created a niche in Ghana where Ghana's under-educated and uneducated bunch see people with doctorate degrees as demigods irrespective of the meaningless subject discipline.
Look at every published document presented to Ghana at the hands of our colonial masters masquerading as international organizations and you will not be surprised that most bear the handiwork of Ghanaians in the Diaspora and here at home from our universities pulled in to legitimize and or blunt critics of the top to bottom documents for disaster. Yet each and every one of those documents intended to help Ghana grow have failed each time both on substance and or benefit. What they have always achieved is force Ghana to sell its natural, mineral, raw materials and human cargo on the cheap to those very nations those international institutions serve; Ghana has never met any of those wonderful goals in those meaningless documents since 1970. If you get to be confident as I am in my field of study you get challenge, stand up to and question long standing belief system of PhD sitting at the top of the education food chain even when they do not know what they talk about and or incapable of practical applications of what it is they mastered. Do you, Dr. Yaw Ohemeng, not think its worthy of you and all in the educated elite club of Ghana to provide reasoned cost and or cost-benefit presentation of any form of free education in Ghana to the public to chew on?- We have all seen and lived under the belief system that puts Ghana's PhD holders at the top of Ghana's food chain which is synonymous to what was aptly characterized by the Black American Poet Laureate who referred to some black educated elite as those who would put you on the slave truck when it rolls by the neighborhood. There is no amount of money that will allow the NDC or the NPP to adequately implement a successful free education in Ghana unless there is a shift in priorities including scaling back the salaries, benefit packages of the president, the courts, parliament and every government institution while eliminating the current perks of our retired civil servants who continue to enjoy life even as they screw Ghana's children.
Then Dr. Yaw Ohemeng you may want to explain if there will ever be a need to provide school buildings fit for use by Ghana's school age children or you would rather see them occupy shameful structures unfit for animals in developed nations even as you taut one miserable ploy for the NPP.

Boy oh boy, what warped, convoluted thinking! Hmmmmm, if a PhD degree in Nuclear Engineering, from a reputable univeristy in the UK is that easy to attain, why don't you enroll for one tomorrow? Dr Ohemeng was merely pointing out the loop holes and the porousness of the President's announcement, which any one with a little more than Class 6 arithmetic should understand.
What is so tribal about that? What prevents any Ghanaian citizen, whatever his/her academic level, tribal or even poitical affiliation, from commenting on matters that concern the well being of Oman Ghana?
Our eduation system is in tatters. Those who are paid to manage it don't seem to know what they are doing. Why can't we all discuss it dispassionately and help find a solution to the 80% of our population that according to official records, are not getting anything from their labours in the classroom and the school compound?
