Thanks very much Joseph. Your article is very objective and straight to the point but the problem is whether the NPP will buy your argument. The NPP's problem is that there are many captains on one ship. Everybody wants to hold an important position whiles the NDC will present a sheep if it means winning political power. In a way it helps Ghana if the NPP wins power because their candidates are more prepared than those from the NDC who never had any ambitions to serve the people in the highest capacity.
So in a way I have my doubts if Bawumia would not end up like Limann, Mills and Mahama, who were all hand-picked and helped through evil propaganda to become presidents. I like Bawumia very much and I agree he is more likely likely to win in 016 should he be selected, but I fear he may not be a strong and astute President like Kufuor who though had a gentle disposition and mild demeanor but was very strong mentally.
That is not to say I support Nana Addo for 2016... that will be the disaster of the century for NPP. Apart from his age, he has very poor organizational skills and can't communicate effectively with the common uneducated man. Above all many Ghanaians do not like him... the NDC made sure of that and they will do that again if they got the opportunity again!
I recommend that you post more of such articles to provoke the thinking of the NPP and their supporters.

What kind of thinking is this? If you believe the NDC is just doing propaganda. If in spite of their winning power, they cannot live up to expectation, why will you advocate for the selection of a candidate based on satisfying the NDC and not purely on ability and capability irrespective of where the person comes from. Only God determines who is dying at what age. We need a transformational leader and not who is young/old or where she/he comes from.

Mr Annor or you never heard this? keep burying your head in the sand like an ostrich till thy kingdom come. Dr Bawumia is a political novice and he is yet to learn the political ropes. We shall be happy if you bring him in 2016, happier if you bring Alan and happiest if you bring nana. You, whichever way you turn, npp will lose the 2016 elections

Joseph, this is a very good article. I believe Dr. Bawumia is NPP's greatest electoral asset and the man who should lead the party, not Nana Akufo-Addo for the 2016 General Election. I've personal admiration for Nana Akufo-Addo but I think he'll be making a huge mistake to stand for the party's leadership challenge again. Just as I wish him all the luck in the world, hopefully, the "third time lucky", I think Dr. Bawumia could appeal and attract many voters among the wider electorate than the usual traditional strongholds of NPP.
However, it should not come as any surprise should Nana Akufo-Addo stand again.

The NPP is a tribal party, that is the reason they kept Kuffuor's vice -President Aliu on the sidelines. Name a single achievement you can attribute to Nana during his stint in government. Here are his failures:
One: Not investigating the murder of the judges when he was AG and Minister of Justice.
Two: Not investigating the horrible murder of the YaaNa and his court, which was clearly his duty.
Three: Not holding Gambia to account for the slaughters of tens of Ghanaians, clearly his duty as Foreign Minister.
He was derelict in his duties in all the high positions he occupied. Probably a nice drinking buddy, but not fit to lead Ghana. If Nana is not fit, you can be sure his lightweight running mate is even less fit to sit in Nkrumah's chair.

Nana was actually derelict in his high government positions and should have been fired. Probably a nice drinking buddy but not fit to lead Ghana. If he is not fit, then less so is Bawumia his lightweight twice-running mate. I have never heard Bawumia come up with any practical economic, trade or financial proposal, ever.

The answer is a "big no". These are sensitive issues no one will talk about, but let NPP elect a muslim be it Bawumiah or any muslim and they will commit a political suicide.
The same thing goes for NDC. Let NDC elect another Northerner after Mahama or a muslim, they will also be committing political suicide.
These issues will not be discussed openly but if u really understand Ghanaian society, you will appreciate that it matters.

Dr.Bawumia is good to be; but not now. I agree with all that you have said about him but you have forgotten that the incumbent prez Mahama is also from the north and will be able to influence northerners more now than Bwumia since he has the state resources at his disposal more than Dr. Bawumia. Plse do not use age of Nana Addo as a barriel. Age is a figure in the mind of the individual and not what God thinks about humanity. If God says Nana Addo will be the one to take Ghana to where He Almighty wants us to be so will it come to pass. Bawumia still needs to learn more about the politics of Ghana from Nana Addo.Plse, don't destroy Dr. Bawumia now for us for he has a lot to offer Ghanaians even as a vice president. Look at the combination an elder man being supported by a young man.

We need a different face. I am doing a survey and most of the floating voters in Central Region prefer voting for either Alan, Bawumia or Frimpong Boateng and not Nana Addo. Nana is popular among the NPP followers like us, but not popular among the floating voters. Remember, it is the floating voters who decide and not the party loyalties. Nana has a problem of appealing to the floating voters.
We want power and we will not spend time doing just a small survey to find out who the people want. All we are doing is rallying behind certain personalities. We need to be serious. 2016 is not going to be easy.

I don't know why we are now getting too serious into tribal politics.Bawumia cannot beat Mahama because of his poor performance in the Supreme Court.Dr Pink sheets has brought nothing significant to NPP in both 2008 and 2012.NPP did not lose the previous elections because NDC were saying NPP is an Akan party.NPP lost because of bad strategy and lack of maturity.Bawumia has never won anything in his own constituency,he has never been to parliament or held any ministerial post.He is completely naive if it comes to politics.NDC will burry Dr Pink Sheets alive,he has no chance to extricate himself from the stupid election petition and that will be his down fall.On a clean strategic note,I will give Bawumia, zero. The fact of the matter is that NPP did not lose because of Akan tag but they displayed irresponsible tactics and useless campaign. For NPP to win 2016,they need a new paradigm, new strategy, new political rhetorics and a new face but don't bring any of the petitioners onboard.Let me tell you another important issue,NPP failed to win any of the swing regions in 2008 and 2012.They will have to do anything possible to capture the swing regions, that is the oly way out.Thank you.
