A flood was on its way, forcing everyone to evacuate. The police rowed up to the most pious woman in town and said, "Ma'am, you have to leave this house! People are dying out here!"
The woman replied, "No, I'm not leaving. God has always helped me before, and He will do it again."
So as the water started to rise, she went to the second story of her house. Another boat came by, and the captain yelled, "Ma'am, you have to get on this boat or you're going to drown!"
The woman replied again, "No, God helped me before, and He will do it again."
The water rose even higher. This time she went to the top of the roof, where a helicopter came and hovered overhead. The pilot called into his loudspeaker, "Please climb aboard, ma'am. You are going to drown!"
The women sniffed and again replied, "God is going to save me!"
But the water rose higher, and soon she drowned to death. She went to Heaven, and there she asked God, "Why didn't you save me, O Lord?"
And God replied, "I did help--I sent you two boats and a helicopter!"

No is criticizing Duncan Williams of praying for the Nation or President. The hullabaloo about his pronouncement has got more to do with Commanding the Cedi to rise.
So quoting scriptures out of context to justify what he did is neither here nor there. Yes, Men of God in the Bible have commanded water to part for the Israelites to pass; the Sun to stand still for the people of Israel to win their wars. However, in all these instances they were instructed by the their God to do that. And when they obeyed their God, we saw or read the results.
If God was directing Duncan Williams to do that, we expecting the Cedi to rise after he commanded it to rise. But that is not the case now, the Cedi continues to fall. So what is he trying to tell us? That God is dead or not listening to his prayers?
The reason why this is serious is, Duncan is one of Mahama's spiritual advisors. So for someone like that believing that it was good to pray over the Cedi, it means Mahama, our lazy President would just wake up and throw his hands in the air and wait on God to fix the economy. And that was why many was against such nonsense.
You can't have all answers to every stupidity that goes on in NPP and Ghana. There are times you need to shut up; you are being boring and a nuisance with some of your thoughtless outbursts.

In Ghana, religious leaders have intervened and played crucial roles in the nation's deliberative democratic process/politics. Faith, whatever we believe does influence our behaviour, thoughts, enhances our public life and gives a moral direction to politics.
However, I found myself wondering what sin the Cedi has committed? No insult to God for Archbishop Duncan-Williams 'spiritualisation of the Cedi' in the current financial and economic crisis? As a nation, should Ghana be looking for such faith-driven solutions to the country's financial and economic problems which are fundamental issues of economic competence or the lack of it? Whatever happened to NDC's economic competence in this crisis?
Personally, I'm proud of Roman Catholic faith, and I would rather wish to see the likes of Archbishop Duncan-Williams pray to cure terrible diseases than move into the 'spiritualisation' of issues underpinning our economy.

The problem most Ghanaians have with Duncan Williams is that he is regarded as an example of the wrong person saying the right thing so whatever he says jars on the ear.Duncan -William epitomizes all that is wrong about many of Ghana's so=-called men of God: brash, self seeking and incredibly materialistic. Add to these is overweening arrogance and pride and you get Ghanaians in arms against everything the man says. You see the same reaction from Ghanaians towards another thoroughly vain man , namely JJ Rawlings.
