If the UG will charge tolls, why would they charge GH 1.00 for small cars to ply the short stretch of road on campus. i thought small cars pay 50 ghana pesewas to use the long Accra-Tema motorway. What if any other community constructs a road and charges GH 5.00 per vehicle. If they must charge tolls, then the figure must be regulated.

So Columbia University is located on Broadway in New York and NYU. is also in the Village in New York. And they fix some pot holes on part of Broadway and decide to construct toll booths on Broadway to recoup their investment. I don't think it will ever cross their mind to do such a thing. Only in Ghana can a University charge toll on a public road. Even the roads through the University does not belong to them.

The university should find a way to get the money back but constructing toll booth is not the solution. Thee can adopt several methods to get the money back: 1. impose parking fees for students who wish to park within the campus. For example GMU charges students for $200 parking fee for each semester. 2. impose hourly parking for visitors. 3. Negotiate with the taxi and trotro stations traveling in and out of the campus.

Rubbish the comentator has failed to address the fact that the current government have failed to sort out other roads and the traffic in the area and have forced motorists to use roads that sit on the university sight. what is more shocking is that the university has to then repair the roads - money it can use to pay good teachers and provide a world class education for many. Where do you expect a public institution to get the money from? The government should either pay up for the maintenance of the road or they must support the university in tolling motorists. i do think students and teachers should be exempt from paying the toll. in the UK some universities do not allow students to drive on campus. Legon have a well coordinated fleet of shuttle buses so there is no excuse to drive adnd keep a car on campus.

The manner in which Bokor tries to draw political differences in this matter in favour of the NDC shows this guy is not worth listening to in any serious discussions of national issues. And, by the way, was Bokor at the scene of the action? Did he talk to and interview the various parts and listen to the views of others before coming out with his own version? In short, does Bokor really know what is happening there on the ground?

We are not in a jungle. Let sanity prevail. I will indeed love to see a lot of these actions coming from our security forces because Ghana is fast sinking into a lawless country. Good job Gbevlo. Net time give the toll collectors ten lashes each.

He was acting in the public interest. But the action of Gbevlo-Lartey was/is a senseless, brazen act of impunity. What does Bokor mean by "kokompe" lawyer? Another prejudiced statement by a never do well who uses the pen and this forum to insult people and prosecute his tribal agenda. Its sad that Ghanaweb does not screen articles sent to it but publishes them wholesale.
