"unlike the typical Ghanaian arrivee who wants to carry the whole world in his or her luggage with him or her to show off to people at home". This is a very insulting and judgemental. From my experience most of these Ghanaian arrivees you describe carry lots of baggage because they have to bring a gift to everyone they know which in Ghana can mean your extended family members and entire neighbourhood. Rarely do those bags contain items for their own personal use. I enjoyed your article but got very irritated with that statement.

Mr. Sakyi, your observation of the KIA is spot on. For a country which touts itself as the gateway to West Africa, KIA leaves a lot to be desired. Although we've lots of challenges i think the quality of our airport is very embarassing to say the least. The worst of all is the arrival hall, you look at your surroundings and you wonder if you've not mistakenly landed at the assembly hall in your village. The irony of it is that the immediate vicinity of the airport is surrounded with imposing edifices. I hope the plans of building a new airport is not mere rhetoric, because i think it's very necessary.

Hi Prof, thanks for making my day because we need to bring things up to the fore so that together we build our dear motherland.

A lot of things need improvement. Airport, health care. schools and a host of others that have been overlooked.

Ethiopian Airlines is said to have offered to run Ghana Airways but our state property-looting gang #2 (NPP) had already decided what to "do" with the vast array of assets that belonged to Ghana Airways - from real estate all over West Africa to the old planes themselves.
What an undoubtedly profitable partnership it would have been if Gang #2 had been different from Gang #1 (NDC) and agreed! Ethiopian Airlines began operating in 1946 (a decade before our independence from the Brits), and they're simply the best on the continent with unimpeachable experience. I am proud to say though that the Ghana Airways flight crews could definitely match those of Ethiopian Airlines. Ghana Airways pilots were nothing but the best especially considering the "flying coffins" they were made to operate! We will eternally regret losing them.
By the way, Sir, your writing style is beautiful but the bit about the dreamliner flying like "monkeys and baboons" etc just didn't fly unless you really wanted do your bit to exotify our continent like the bronies do!
...A SHITHOLE.
