THE BASIS FOR GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT (UPWARD MOBILITY) HAPPENS IN SOCIETIES THAT DO AWAY WITH GRAFT, GREED & CORRUPTION.
PRESIDENT IS CORRUPT; NURSES AND DOCTORS IN OUR HOSPITALS ARE CORRUPT;
TEACHERS ARE CORRUPT; POLICE SERVICE IS MORE THAN CORRUPT; JUDICIAL SERVICE IS CORRUPT; GOVT. MINISTERS ARE CORRUPT; LABORERS/CLERICAL OFFICERS ARE ALL CORRUPT.
ANYBODY WHO THINKS WE CAN BUILD A MEANINGFUL SOCIETY WITHOUT FIRST OF ALL CLEANING THIS CORRUPTION MENACE, IS LIVING IN A FOOLS PARADISE.

mahama is just a poser with nothing good in his head ,even our archenemy jj is telling him to reshuffle his useless ministers out but forgets the essence of leadership . if the president already doesn't have a plan of development then he cant expect not to be overwhelmed by events . mahama has been plagued by one pestilence of woe after another because of the evil deeds he has committed such as the murder of mills and his proactive tribalism of the northerners. you can not fit 3 pints of water in a pot that only holds a pint , we can not fit the nation of Akan in this confinement called Ghana as the potential is far greater . Ghana limits our diaspora to those who left after 1957 , the nation of Akan recognizes those in Brazil , Caribbean ,USA etc centuries ago as all children of Akan and most welcome home just as the Israelis also are not limited by time . yes even Michelle Obama is a child of the Akan nation like it or not . We can not talk of the unification of the African continent if the true identities and real stakeholders remain imprisoned in their own countries. we have govts who only wish to retain power but ask the Berbers Yoruba , igbo or whoever individually if they want African unity today like the European union and they will confirm. its their govts who pay lip service but in reality are all against . everywhere we have vultures of corruption perched at the highest offices of the land bleeding the people of their lifeblood dry like the evil vampires they are . yes the uprising of the Akan we have global ramifications and a new breeze of justice will flow throughout the world . long live the republic of Akan

Due to his owner's negligence, a dog became lost in the deepest jungles of Africa. Wandering around, the poor dog notices a leopard hading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
Just then, the dog noticed some bones laying on the ground close by. The dog immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching leopard. Just as the jungle cat is about to leap, the dog loudly says, "My, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?
Hearing this, the leopard slinks away. "That was too close," thought the leopard, "that dog nearly had me."
Meanwhile, a mischevious monkey had observed the entire scene, and decided to cause trouble for the dog, while getting on the good side of the leopard as well. The monkey dashed off after the leopard, to tell him what truly happened.
The dog saw the monkey dash off, and suspiciously tailed him from behind. He overhears the monkey spilling the beans, and quickly decides on a course of action, racing back to the pile of bones.
At the same time, the leopard has decided to take care of the dog once and for all. The monkey hops on the leopard's back, to watch the demise of the doomed dog. As the leopard approaches, he can hear the dog talking to himself: "Where's that lazy monkey? I sent him off half an hour ago for another leopard, and he's still not back!"

MASSA KOFI, this is a brilliant piece. A very perceptive analysis of the current economic mess Ghana finds itself in. To begin with your quote of President John Mahama's statements in his State of the Nation Address, I don't think many Ghanaians need 'Mandela's interpreter', that sign language expert at his memorial service to make sense of the fact that Ghana was sleep walking into economic abyss. It was a sensible precaution. However, why did President Mahama fail to reduce the size, cut the wasteful spending and profligacy of his NDC Government? Why then, did he irresponsibly employ large armies of media consultants/ spin doctors and the huge number of staff at the Presidency to increase the country's expenditure? Why did his Government fail to put stabilising coherent economic policies and appropriate fiscal measures to avert this current financial and economic crisis? Isn't this the result of blundering incompetence of the NDC Government?
MASSA KOFI, you've raised several important points, generally overlooked, when it comes to drags on Ghana's economy and their effect on the cedi. Especially, the issue of big foreign companies/firms in the manufacturing and mining industries, who avoid the strict foreign exchange policy in place by using dodgy financial transfer deals, tax evasion and Ghana's 'unhealthy' tax breaks which make our local currency, the cedi vulnerable. There's the need for our Parliament to review some of these 'unhealthy' tax breaks and dodgy deals.
The truth is, President John Mahama I running a bloated government just as the previous NPP and NDC Governments. This isn't a justification but to explain a problem in our nation's politics. The problem is that, our political parties when in Government, want to reward certain individuals, regions, tribes and groups that voted/supported them to power. And it's by appeasing every region, tribes and groups that automatically increase the size of the government and the cost of running it. It's this irresponsible attitude that has led to President Mahama running such a bloated, inept, wasteful and scandalously corrupt Government.

75%of the people employed at the presidency are there because of political patronage. Most were "nominated" by chiefs, party financiers and party apparitchicks. Most of them have not contributed up to one month of REAL work since they were employed and are still being paid. What have the "economic advisers", for isntance contributed to Ghana's economy since the beginniing of 2013? How about the large army of gardeners and cleaners if Flagstafff House still looks filty, brown and unkempt?
At least Acheampong managed "Operation Feed Yourself", but this must be the most incompetent government in the history of Ghana, possibly at par with Limann's PNP, which had its hands tied behinnd its back from day1.
