These Fulanis have cool off now as compare to 2000-2008. This guys held the country to ransom. Where were you guys calling the Mahama government to do something now?

The cattle you see in Ghana belong to Ghanaians with the Fulanis mere herdsmen or caretakers.

It is agonizing to read such hatred from someone who should know better. Taking up arms against the Fulani herdsmen will only make a delicate situation worse and ultimately, render any meaningful efforts to solve the impasse between the two groups futile. All that should be done at this stage is allow the government to come up with a permanent solution as things will really get out of hand if the herdsmen decide to retaliate to protect their livestock....

Fulanis value cattle more than people.

Mama Hope or whatever your moniker is, don't ever call anyone you don't know stupid for asserting their opinion, ok? I won't descend to your level because I am much older than you are and perhaps a bit more civil....but the crux of the matter under discussion is that retaliation will only worsen the current hostility between the groups...what if the fulanis also decide to arm themselves to protect their investments? What will result is a huge conflict that will have disastrous consequences in terms of property destruction and the loss of human lives....have you sat down and thought about that before calling others stupid? There is a better solution to the problem....the MP should know better.....

Fulanis are Ghanaians and have every right to protect their property from local people, the MP's call will only bring more trouble to them.

The writer's over-emphasis of the Fulani menace in only the 'landed/sedentary farmers of the Akan areas of Ghana' is unfortunate. This is a national problem involving all free roaming cattle throughout the country. In the Afienya backyard of Tema, I have had my well tendered mango plants (1000) and plantains (over 1000) and other plants (maize, sugarcane, sweet potatoes, etc.) at my farm all plundered by herds of cattle. My numerous reports to the Police yielded no results; I always threatened the cattle boys to stay away, but to no avail. At my residence in Community 22, Tema, hundreds of cattle are brought there daily from the Tulaku cattle market, through the thick Tema-Akosombo traffic (in the full view of Police at the Tulaku checkpoint), to roam around our residences, also destroying our plants and grass, and infecting people and animals with the ticks disease. Numerous residents' meetings with the cattle owners have yielded no results, as the owners claim that the cattle are at Tulaku for short periods before being sold.
The last National Security Advisor admitted on national TV that the menace of the Fulani herdsmen is a number one national security problem! It is about time we defined clear guidelines on rearing cattle in Ghana - they certainly must be penned or secluded. In the towns and cities, extra jobs can be created by hiring the jobless to cut grasses for the cattle, goats, etc.

THE FULANI RAPE PREGNANT WOMEN BECAUSE THEY HAVE A SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEVE CONCERNING THEM. APPARENTLY, THEY BELIEVE THEY WILL LIVE LONG AND GET WEALTHY IF THEY DO SO. FROM 2000 TO 2003 THEY RAPED AND KILLED FARMERS IN THE THREE NORTHERN REGIONS USING KALASHNIKOVS AND AK-47S. REMEMBER OPERATION GONG-GONG? THIS WAS MOUNTED BY THE GHANA ARMY TO GET RID OF THEM. THEY EVEN KILLED ONE ARMY OFFICER. THE GOV MUST MOUNT A SERIOUS EFFORT TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND AND FOR ALL.THE PROBLEM IS ALSO THAT THEY BRIBE SOME CHIEFS AND POLICE WITH CATTLE TO BE ALLOWED TO GRAZE THEIR LANDS ON FARMS. THEN IF THE FARMERS PROTEST, THEY THEY KILL THEM AND RAPE THEIR WIVES. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

The Fulanis do not give a hoot about any warning coming from who and what because the cattle being reared by the Fulanis belong to some prominent politicians and top people in Ghana namely: Nnunoo Mensah, Akuoko Sarong the Agogo paramount chief, Gbvelo Lartey, Mills the late president and a lot more. Why is that the Fulanis do not obey any orders coming from the government? It is because they are taken care of cattle belong to our leaders. This is pure and simple.
