Those are democracies that confine some of their citizens into living in gutter. Tell lies about other countries and arm the opposition to bring down their socioeconomic system. In the large create chaos. Still in 1956 a Ghanaian British citizen could be send to prison for reading socialist literature just because he or she is a Negro. When they said that we were undemocratic we were feeding ourselves and manufacturing industrial products. When they claim that we are democratic today we can not feed ourselves, and even make tooth pick and matches. Why do you people tease us.

Well put! This guy, Ben Ofosu-Appiah, sounds just like his infamous namesake (and possible relative) the late Professor Ofosu-Appiah who was tapped by the NLC after Nkrumah's overthrow to ruin Du Bois's magnum opus, the Encyclopedia Africana. All of Ben's intellectual references are Westerners. People like him see nothing noteworthy about our pan-African heritage. If the Western powers were not empire-builders, always seeking to turn African and other nations into colonies in the past, and now neo-colonies, hand-in- step with corrupt, often-dictatorial, ruling elites that they either put in place or nurture to be puppets, we would progress economically, politically, culturally and in every other way. Western imperialism and neo-colonialism are the greatest threats to democracy and political stability in our countries.

Reducing inequalities in our society lies in pursuing a course of social, economic and political development that will reduce poverty, and will assure for each citizen equal opportunity based on the equitable distribution of the economic wealth of the state. Ghana can position itself as an attractive democratic place for US, European, and Japanese multinationals to run their African operations. Currently Ghana ranks 11th from the bottom. Botswana is the most attractive place for these foreign companies to do business in Africa according to a UN study.

In any state where there is an absence of a critical spirit in the attitude of the citizenry to their rulers, preservation of rights is a difficult matter. This is an unfortunate fact of life in Ghana and it further means that the problem of illiteracy needs to be tackled seriously if democracy is to thrive.

What was the status of African-Americans in 1944 under the Presidency of Roosevelt? They couldn't even vote in the Southern states!

We shall be sowing the seeds of our national destruction and heading towards political chaos if tribalism is allowed and becomes the unofficial policy of the government.
