Moses, I agree with you in many of things you have said. But remember that this unruly behavior by the youth in Tamale did not just begin. There are many examples of this going back many years but no one seems to stand up to this bad behavior. Sometimes the youth are even secretly encouraged by the so-called big men.
Take for instance during the elections in 2008 some youth from NDC attacked and burned down homes in the area of Tamale called Gunbihini; just because those people happened to be NPP supporters. They even went further and threatened that if those home owners rebuild their homes the homes would be burnt down again. Those home owners ended moving to a different areas of Tamale. The last time I visited Tamale in 2012 those homes were still in ruins. Nobody was arrested and prosecuted for these crimes; even though the police and political leaders knew who the culprits were.
In another incident the NDC party office in Lamashegu was burnt down by irrate NDC youth because they were angry with politicians in Tamale due to a certain decision about the Dagbon chieftaincy matter.
A few years back the same NDC youth went to Tamale hospital and forcibly took over the auctioning of broken down vehicles because they wanted to see a ceratin outcome in the sale of vehicles. One would think that at some point these unruly behaviors may at least get punished but no, the authorities always pretend not to know or simply supress any law enforcement action against these youth because the actions of the youth usually favors a certain political agenda.
Moses, I know you are someone who really cares but I suggest that you save your emotions; especially when it comes to issues involving any of the Northern politicians. In my estimation most of the current crop of MPs from Tamale and other areas of Dagbon would not have had a chance of getting elected if there no was chieftaincy problem in the area. I think you understand what I mean by this last statement.
