A Ghanaian journalist walks into the hospital and tells the desk nurse, "I want to see the eye-ear doctor." "There is no such doctor" she tells him. "Perhaps you would like to see someone else?" "No, I need to see an eye-ear doctor," he says. "But there is no such doctor," she replies. "We have doctors for the eyes and doctors for the ear, nose and throat, but no eye-ear doctor." No help. He repeats, "I want to see the eye-ear doctor." They go around like this for a few minutes and then the nurse says: "Comrade, there is no eye-ear doctor, but if there were one, why would you want to see him?" "Because," he replies, "I keep hearing one thing and seeing another."

Hello Mr. Ahoofe,
We've been informed by Kennedy Agyapong that the leadership of your party, NPP is corrupt and full of thieves who have stolen and refused to account for motor bikes and other party logistics he donated towards the 2012 election.
According to him, the Chinese lady who supplied the items to him on credit is putting pressure on him to pay back the money. Failure to do so by the party, will force him to mention names if anyone dares him.
Okoampah, my question to you is how are you going to respond to this. If a party in opposition is so corrupt and one of it's own anti corruption member of parliament now called them thieves, how then will it be possible for the electorate to give them the mandate to govern?
Finally, can NPP have the moral authority to accuse NDC of corruption without being mocked as it's well documented that the NPP is the worse of the two evils.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all fellow Ghanaians, and especially, to our most prolific and most criticized contributor, Professor Kwame Okoampa Ahoofe.
I know many of us can barely stand his style of critique but we cannot deny he has kept most of us on our toes. So, whether we like him or not, please, join me to wish him the best of Holidays and hope he would keep the heat on for all of us to be ever vigilant.
On this particular issue, I side with the Professor. Our Executive must defer the distribution of such funds as the Professor mentioned to the specific non-partisan entities that deal directly and impartially with the sector of the population targeted.
The Government must restrict its function in such disbursements to the Inspectorate responsibilities where it can ensure the funds were used for exactly what they were intended. The direct distribution of such funds has always been tainted by Partisanship and favored only those recipients who have shown to promote the Government to the Public.
It is however interesting that the Professor did not remember to mention the Center for Civic Education under Dr. Busia but singled out Nkrumah's control of the Information Ministry. The last time I checked, the Ministry of Information like all other Ministries in Ghana, since Independence, has always been an appendage of the Executive. Our Constitution sadly does not provide any guidance or strong recommendation for greater separation of Powers, with which the Ministries could boldly ignore an order from the Executive that fails to satiate due Public interest.
The Civil Service ought to be strictly functioning to the best interest of the Nation, not to that of the Executive per se, even though the Executive expects the Service's cooperation to achieve its Agenda.
Long Live Ghana!!
