Bobby, you deviated from the issues raised by the writer. It is common knowledge that the NDC wins elections by playing the tribal card and character assassination. They have never won on competence and vision and we all know that. It is this tribal games that continues to draw Ghana back because most Ghanaians see elections as an opportunity to punish some tribes instead of a means to choose competent leaders to improve their lives. That is why our leaders are corrupt because they believe that no matter the evil they commit against the people, they will continue to enjoy support from some section of the population. And the sad aspect of this is that it is the poorest section of our Ghanaian society that vote for the incompetent ones.

Some of the most inflamatory articles ever written here on Ghana web were written by NPP leaning Akans especially Ashantis. Does that confirm something people had always suspected?
Let the people be the judge. People who voted NDC didnt vote for the NDC because they think NDC can do a better job. They did so to keep evil folks like you who are so abundant in the NPP at bay. You dont do politics, you do tribalism and tht is very dangerous.
Your aim is to hide behind the NPP and cause mayhem in Ghana but most of the people are very smart than you. Shame on you, and you call yourself a Bible believing Christian worshiping with the so called minorities every Sunday?
Not until people of your caliber start doing politics instead of tribalism the NPP will always struggle outside of its stronghold of Ashanti and Eastern.
God Bless Ghana

Ama, the issue is not about Ewes and Akans. It is Asantes. The NDC has successfully managed to set every tribe in Ghana against the Asantes whiles the NPP looked on unconcerned. I believe Nana Addo would have won only Ashanti Region if he were an Asante.... because it becoming increasingly clear that even in the NPP, anti-Asante feeling is growing stronger. That is why there is always an aggressive attitude towards Alan and any Asante who oppose Nana Addo.
Even though Apraku has always been in Akufo-Addo's camp, the personal attacks on him after his criticisms of him was amazing. Even Kufuor has virtually become a "nobody" in the NPP.

Abeeku, we have also had people from the NDC who insult Asantes and Akans and even northerners as if there was no tomorrow. The difference is that some tribes in Ghana have an inferior mentality so they carry such emotions into elections. So they express their resentment and frustrations against those they deem as "oppressors" during elections. In effect competence and ability is never considered by such people, no, it is VENGEANCE.
The funniest aspect of this drama is that these "oppressed and insulted" people easily forget the insults and happily come to live among their "oppressors". I believe God works in mysterious ways... that explains why the NDC after 25 years in govt cannot compare to NPP's 8 years. Even with abundant resources they still cannot find their way but come back to the people every 4 years to fuel tribal sentiments.
Remember the Bible teaching that a nation without a vision goes astray.

One day I was in Kintampo and happened to engage in this NPP/NDC argument in a pito bar. As I was pointing out the differences in the competences and achievements of the 2 parties, some guys who obviously didn't like my line of argument asked me "wo ye Asanteni, me boa anaa?, which translates "you are an Asante, aren't you?" I answered that I'm a Ghanaian but he insisted on knowing my tribe. For them the issues, policies, vision, capacity and evelopment didn't matter but rather my tribe. And sadly, they think every ordinary non-Asante should rather speak in favour of NDC.
So the NPP problems is not really about being predominantly Akan but its association with Asantes. After the 2012 elections was declared, I heard one northerner declare that until Asantes stop insulting, the NPP will continue to lose. So I asked him 2 questions "is NPP and Akufo Addo Asantes?" "are Asantes the only tribe you know that insult?" He pondered over this for some few seconds..... but he couldn't provide me with any answer and walked away.
All I'm driving at is that there is a strong anti-Asante sentiment out there, even among all other Akan ethnics and this did not start yesterday. It has only deepened with the the introduction of the 4th Republic when the NDC made it their business to fan it. Like I tried to say earlier, Akufo-Addo won the Eastern Region because he is not an Asante. Otherwise, he would have lost in the Akyem areas. I am yet to establish whether other Akan tribes see Asantes as threat or rivals. I sincerely don't think it is envy because they share almost everything in common-education, culture, economic features, sports, music, entertainment, etc. You cannot watch five Akans and discover a difference.
Finally, nobody can convince me that the NDC loves northerners or other tribes more than the NPP does. At least the evidence is clear for all to see. But I have come to realize what tribal and religious emotions can do to man's ability to think. If you are not careful it will cloud your reasoning. That is the problem of Ghanaians.
It is pure malice and mischief which is drives the evil campaign of one tribe against the other and every Ghanaian must wake up and rebel against any form of persecution by political parties against any tribe whether Asantes, Ewes, Dagombas, Frafras or Akyems. Tomorrow the scales could turn and your tribe could be at the receiving end. Politics should elevate our dignity and existence. God bless Ghana.

They need to look into themselves and so a self assessment.

The intolerance now is alarming.
