Good one there at least I have seen a sensible person who can reason and think, first and foremost, what is education at all? In a country where I come from, they defined education as anyone who can read and write English language that is how they defined education in Ghana. A country where a lot of people look down upon those who can't speak and write English language do you think such country can develop no wonder Ghana is a country with good resources but the citizens are mentally weak unable to think and reason as well, they are still slaves to the so-called Europeans. They are still colonized mentally and physically but the reason is that they don't know that they are still under colonization. So in s nutshell that is how illiteracy is defined in Ghana. Then one may ask that how about the countries who are using their own language to study are they illiterates? a country like France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Finland, Norway, China etc can we classify their education system as substandard because they are not using English language to teach in their institutions? Africans will always embraced everything from west and east without thinking deep and its side effect in the future and we hate our own things so tell me are we humans? We always lionize the oppressors and disowned ours and we called ourselves educational elites now listen to a proverb from Europeans to Africans “you can take a monkey from bush but you can't take bush from monkey" how are we going to interpret it? it's simple to Europeans, Africa is bush let's see how they describe Africa they use the word Sub-Saharan and the question is do we have sub-Europeans or sub-Asians or sub-Americans, etc look how they have cited Africa in a World map, Africa as a continent is always at the bottom of the World map, the question is why they didn't cite Europe, Asia, America and Australia at the bottom but only Africa think about it brothers and sisters, the proverb means an African a monkey can come to western or eastern country to study or do anything but because he/she is from Africa you can't take Africa mentality from him or her then the stereotype goes, they are less humans, they don't have food to eat, always fighting among themselves etc so why Africans shouldn't cling to their own and abandoned their stupid act but yet still Africans are upholding their language and their barbaric culture, 500 years we are still slaves so when are we going to emancipate ourselves as a people created by YHWH.
The time has come for Africans to come together as one people and put their difference away and unit as people it has been a long time in slavery and colonization. The time has come for Ghanaians to put away their difference and unit to develop their nation it has been a long time in slavery and colonization.
God of our fathers have mercy on us especially banana republic of Ghana. Ghana, Ghana a country with good resources I had wanted to gather my people under one canopy as hen gathered it chicks but my people have abandoned their wisdom through thinking and now following the way of westerners through their devilcracy which is called democracy so now my people cannot be able to manage their own affairs, my people do not appreciate things manufactured in their country, my people preach devilcracy and practice vices, my people preach patriotism but they are not patriotic, my people have lost their sense of judging and now we are in a doom state they can't differentiate good things from bad ones and now engulf with tribalism which has become a canker in the country through bogus so-called educational elites and stomachticians who called themselves as politicians to separate the people in other not to come together to fight against their evil planning. A voice calling from within shouting my people, my people come together to build your nation we were created in the same image not let this stomachticians separate you they are doing it for their own selfish gain so wise up, awake from your slumber, the day is far spent and the night is near so let's ignore all these tribalism stuffs and come together as one people because together we can build a better nation.
The only way Africans can develop is to use their own language to study and do everything and stop patronizing anything from east or west, a small country like Ghana we can’t develop it why? Because we have pseudo intellectuals who always claims that they are the best but in reality they are at the bottom of the pit, our education system is not good, our education system does not allow us to think inside and out outside the box so for Ghana to develop it needs critical thinkers and nature incliners who can put things together other than that it will take millions of years we will still be where we are. We need a task force made up of people who are willing to discuss sex as objectively as we discuss food, because we find it easier to discuss food. Sex has made slaves out of many a powerful people.
Our perception of sex and the role it plays in our lives often determines our actions. Should we think of sex as a necessity, how should we go about acquiring or receiving it? I put sex in the same category as food, and from a Christian's perspective,if God has created orifices shouldn't He be the one responsible for filling them? It is time we started discussing the power of sex. Some men become slaves to women, satisfying the whims of desirable women while others take it by force. Some spineless ones don't even try to approach women, these are the ones who prey on children as is the case of trokosi, so called prostitutes etc. Sex has made slaves out of many a powerful people. It is that simple.

My brother,
You must be feeling particularly dismayed at the kind of responses you get to your post/s on Ghanaweb. Someone is vendoring love magic spell and some religious mumbo jumbo here and there. I am not particularly surprised.
Fact is, the subject matter, at the intellectual level you have raised it to, is far beyond the educational capability of most readers here, not to mention their cognitive abilities. After all, they are stuck in the Weberian, primitive substantive rationality in which their perception of the cosmos is firmly rooted in the religious world of their mostly rural and small town forebears! Whatever formal education they have had is limited to the narrow subjects they have studied, with no critical thinking ability!
Anyway, as a former colleague would say: "but Andy, that's what make us developing people?" As Ken Kuranchie preferred to put it bluntly, "Ghanaians are not civilised". What I found surprising about that was that he had to go to prison in order to realise that! Blimey! I reached that crossroads a long time ago as a kid.
Trokosi has been abolished since 1998. It is the intellectual failure of the so-called Ghanaian leadership that allows pockets of that atrocity to remain to be tarnishing the images of the rest of us. In the same vein, they allow witch camps and those atrocious prayer camps to exist. So when I look at those so-called leaders, I hit my chest and say these jumped-up artists CANNOT in anyway develop me the son of Alfred, who was boss to over 20 white Brits at John Holt Bartholomew when S. Africa was getting Apartheid! These so-called leaders simply have no idea of how to develop a nation. How to bring about change. Nkrumah does! He knows about the coercive power of the state and was prepared to use it to bring about positive change. Unfortunately, his task was dastardly terminated at its embryonic stage.
We take up the issues later. As you might've noticed, I am just trying to raise again same issues I raised in the 90s and got the kind of responses you are getting now. Most don't have a clue! It is often like trying to discuss trigonometry with class one pupils!

Dear Brother Yao,

I read the comments to the articles you post here and I conclude they are way above the comprehension of many who read them.
I know you try as much as possible to simplify them yet I get from their comments that your essays ate too complicated for many. That is why some resort to insults instead of directly addressing the substantive issues you raise.
That's the problem we have today--as far as our educational system go. But I cannot seem to stop laughing at how you bluntly put your opinions out here---funny yet insightful and educative. It's a rare gift you have.
I have persistently told one of the readers I privately communicate with that you are one of the best writers on Ghanaian websites---in terms of your writing abilities, analytic objectivity, and intellectual confidence. Not many of our scholars have these qualities. It's why you and I get along intellectually.
Please continue to write. I read every single piece you post on Ghanaweb. I learn a lot from them.
I have a friend here in America who always calls to discuss your articles with me once they are posed on Ghanaweb. Good readers appreciate your intellectual inputs here.
Thanks.

Pardon me, if I state here that besides my husband (and even he is sometimes unwittingly influenced by social norms as I myself have been brought up to be), I knew not of any African male - truly, I have countless brothers, cousins, uncles etc... - whose perspective is as objective and equitable towards his female counterpart as Mr. Kwarteng's observations demonstrate in this essay! Bravo! At last, we Ghanaians and subsequently all Africans are on the road to making a huge dent in imposed insensitive cultural and traditional societal behavior. My heart is so "full" I could cry! Take it from a woman. And if you don't understand my emotions here because you happen to be a man, for one second, just imagine how you would feel if the tables were turned! Thank you, Mr. Kwarteng for having the guts to expose the moral, legal, economic, political, and religious inequities around us.When women bleed, men also bleed, although some may not realize this. May you be further strengthened by your efforts on society's behalf. One Love, One Heart!
