I think it is better to send this article to the Minister to read. I know nothing will happen but it is a start.

I want to count the number of comments on this article. Most Ghanaians are so politically miopic that they don't see anything apart from their political winning elections, therefore articles like this that speaks real truth of what is destroying Ghana, nobody comments or even think about it. Just write about NPP or NDC and comments that are without any wise thought will flood here. We kill ourselves and blame others for it. Ghanaians are so corrupt that they think corruption is another name or maybe a surname for them. Connection is what they call it. Everybody does connection, even me. We all do. If we all can stop it, the the politicians will start thinking and doing the right thing. Even the whole media that reports what goes on is someway somehow corrupt. Hmm, God must have mercy.

Good morning Nyansasem, I know by now you are just about to wake up or still asleep at the other end of the pond. Just to let you know that it's very easy to get the contact details of public officials including minister in Ghana.
I once phoned Ministry of Education regarding some article I was writing on funding for training college students in 2012. I was shocked when I was given the minister, deputies telephone numbers but they were all not there so I was given one of the senior officers . As soon as the person who answered the phone heard that I was calling from UK regarding the subject matter, she was prepared to put me through all the senior officers including ministers. Betty Mould Iddrisu was the minister and Ayariga was her deputy.
I suggest you phone the Education Ministry on +233 302662772 and ask for the minister's e-mail and they will give it to you.
The system as described in the article is a typical create, loot and share enterprise at its best in Ghana. How can the school children pass the basic education examinations? The kinds are the worse victims of this criminal system.

Perhaps if enough of us begin to write to state officials when such articles come up, we can begin to make some headway!

Am i the only one who has noticed this: There are several articles on concrete examples of institutional corruption in Ghana including Kofi Ata's and one news item on the same subject, and they have attracted little or no comments. This to me is our problem. We are all screaming corruption but when push comes to shove or when the rubber hits the road, we all recoil because the picture is not pretty.

ndc is trying to make us all foolishly believe that this is all about partisan politics but in reality its a feudal system of governance based on tribalism and ethnic affiliation . there is no partisan politics rather anti Akan movements , north/ south and east/ west divisions . it is the truth and everyone first asks what tribe does someone belong to before they even consider the substance of what was said . yes we have gone back not decades but centuries . personally i do not care who rules as long as they endeavor to do some good and secure sustainable development and jobs for our people irrespective of tribe , ethnic pedigree , religion or social status but that being said i know its impossible due to hegemony and chauvinistic religious tribalism not forgetting the opportunism of the satellite groups like the Gas and krobos. no matter how good the plan i remain pessimistic and realize everything will fail in this climate of greed , selfishness and no direction . ITS ALL ABOUT TRIBAL POLITICS SO WATCH YOUR BACK

Gye Nyame,
That is exactly why we need to do something about it. It is the dumb electricians that are causing the numerous fires, the dumb driver buys a licence from the corrupt licensing officer even before he ever holds a steering wheel. The idiotic planning officer does not care about what material is used to construct a shopping centre as long as he gets his cut. The shopping mall collapses and kills your brother-in-law's auntie's daughter's boyfriend. Then presto, it has touched you.
Usualy we all think it may never touch us, but ultimately it does in some way!

Does it not seem odd to the Accountant General, the Minister of Education, the Finance Minister and even the President when suddenly, huge sums of money are paid in some "out of the way" district office?
There have been whole districts where BECE candidates have scored 0% for three of four successive seasons. Does that not say anything to parents, district and regional officers, local opinion leaders, MPs, DCE and Assembly Members?
We may all bury our heads in the sand and assume that it does not concern us, but most of us have no option than to retire and go and die in Ghana. If the level of corruption and sheer incompetence that is gradually engulfing our country today continues, our dead bodies may be asked to pay bribes before they are buried!
Ebo, why don't we come together and commission a survey in Ghana, asking teachers who have been appointed in the past five years, how long it took them to receive their first salaries. That may give us a clue.
We can also do a questionnaire in the newspapers or social media asking people who attended schools in the districts the number of years during which they had full time, qualified teachers.
