With the land mass as it is,i would suggest railway should be our #1 priority.Ghana is is not big enough to have multiple airports, what we need is a prime mover, the rail,a reliable railway system would move people and goods at a lesser cost.A railway system where farmers, traders, businessmen and women as well as visitors can travel from north to south and east to west without drama. That is what i reckon we should be talking about.

How many businessmen would like to travel to Kumasi and Tamale for business transaction and be back in Accra within a day, using railway ???? Air transport is very necessary because of it is fast, convenient and above all safe. For time critical and medical emergency situation can we rely on only road and railway ???What about security concerns due to land based transport??? What about the indirect economic benefits to be accrued from airport projects??? We need all forms of transportation modules in Ghana.

Capt, what i meant was multiple international airports in a small country like Ghana. We can have domestic ones, that is fine.Railway will take most of the container trucks off our roads and will as well save lives.Railways will also transport our farm products to the markets and food prices will come down. This is done in all developed and emerging economies,it is about mass movement of people and goods.Containers from our ports will no longer be transported by road to any part of Ghana but by rail and this will bring a degree of sanity to our roads, lives will be saved and our farmers will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Yes agreed, with modern rails like Europe, Accra to Kumasi will be done in less than 2 hours. far cheaper than road and air. Also bulk cargo will go by rail, saving our roads from damages.

We west africans do not do well in aviation matters.Southern africans,East africans and North africans do this aviation stuff better than we do and they seem to have all the best airport hubs and tourist attractions.

for me, if we could create the environment in which business people would invest on a BOT basis.....
for those of us who see the solution through the spectacles of rialways...so be it, because that is also a means of taking lots of heavy axle loadings off our roads and hence reducing the burden of road maintenance.
By the way, what has happened to our BOANKRA inland port that was to be served purely by rail?
