3. You dont bring a semi-retired professional simply to come and compete for a place. Its even a show of disrespect to the guy. You bring in somebody like that in special circumstances when you strongly believe in spite of all the negatives, that he is the best guy for the job.
4. It seems to me somebody is either merely doing Olele a favour or Ghana is just panicking

interesting write up, but your premise makes it appear as if ghana is the underdog. its the egyptians rather who are the underdogs. they are the ones who need to believe they can beat a formidable team as the blackstars with all the issues they have in their country. they didnt exactly play quality teams in the group stages whereas the blacks stars had to beat zambia in a closely contested group games. the boys have belief and confidence, they need to be more disciplined in their approach with the pharoahs, and the coach needs to be sharp on strategy and with home crowd advantage all be well. thats it!!

I am always the first to acknowledge the quality, content analysis and probative value of an article when I see one. This is a brilliant one Christopher. Apart from your effective appraisal of the individual positions and players you mentioned, I am particularly in agreement with your observation and comment about who should keep goal on the crucial day. Kwarasey is obviously the man in form right now and for me as well should get the nod above Dauda. He has been faultless this season and has grown in stature. He is also playing game in game out for his team and therefore has a much better match fitness and sharpness and form in general than Dauda at the moment. So you've got that spot on. I am however not too sure we can beat Egypt 3-0 in such a big game. I think 2-0 is more likely, hei, I wouldn't turn down a 3-0 or better still a 4-0 result, but I am just being realistic taking the magnitude and importance of the game into proper consideration. I hope KPB's injury is not a bad one so that he can join the team and still play the game. Good luck guys

Chris I disagree with your point on kwaresey. Kwaresay like KPB suffers from the African Hard field and heat syndrom. They both fail to impress on African soil. Kwaresays last excellent performance for the stars was against Brazil in England. That is the environment they are used to. I would keep Kwaresey for the return Egypt game where the weather/facilities may be favourable that is if we are granted the wish to play on a neutral Middle eastern ground. I would go for Dauda. True he was rusty but having had only a few games under his belt and constant training I am sure he will prove himself ready this time. Besides he knows his critics and has prepared this time around. Dauda on form is unbeatable as we sawe in the AFCON 13. Now I am a big fan of Adomah but he lacks the strength needed for this game and t4 i will bench him in favour of Ayew. Wakaso is the man youre forgetting! If we needed to try someone in the hole it is him. He is Muntari reincarnate and is strong for that position. Agyemang badu on form can also play that role. But i will let Ayew play where he functions best- right sie of attack! Apart from these I agree witrh the rest of your selection. We have to win this match. We need to stop Salah and Abu treika by any means necessary!! Therfore our left back should be solid. Given our weakness there, i will give the experienced Addy the nod ahead of Rahman even though i am a big fan of Rahman but I find Rahman too offensive than defensive.

The write up was well thought out but I am not a fan of the formation and on my team, Essien and Adomah come in off the bench if needed. I come for the camp that believes that Wakasso must be on the field and that Essien is more of a super sub at this stage of his career. I like Adomah but he is also more of substitute that you bring in if you feel that a good cross from the right flank is going to win the game. Here is my starting 11 in a 4-4-2 formation.
GK: Kwarsey
RB: Opare, CB: Sumalia CB: Akaminko, LB: Addy
RW: Dede, LW: Muntari, DFM: KASA, ATM: Wakasso,
FW: Warris, FW: Gyan
I think the above is a team that can get two goals per game. I think tow goals per game is what is needed here. Thank you.

A lot of psychological antics will go into this clash with Egypt and our players must be ready for it.
There are times when a team loses a match not because it played badly but because they get upset at one or two of the referee's decisions and lose their concentration on the match. A typical example was in 1997 when Ghana was playing Morocco in a 1998 WC qualifying match in Kumasi. The referee whistled for a foul near the "18" against Ghana in what looked like a clean tackle. All the Black Star players close-by rushed on the referee in protest but the Moroccans rather seized the opportunity, passed the ball quickly and in a whirlwind fashion went ahead and scored a goal virtually unchallenged. That first goal by Morocco changed the whole game and the match finally ended in a 2-2 draw in spite of the great stars we assembled.
Players need to be mentally tough to know that the referee is only there to do his job and not to make them lose the match. Players should therefore not be upset and drop their guard by any seemingly wrong decision of the referee while the match is ongoing.
Secondly, the Egyptian players themselves might try to provoke our players to over-react and attract cards from the referee. So they must watch out. This is a battle but there are rules.

This game is for Ghana,i don't care what may happen, but one thing i have observe about our black stars team, they can start the game with conciouse, hard playing, and good tackling, but as soon as they score one goal, than they start drawing their opponents back,as if the game is finish, that kind of playing always give an adventage to the oppornent to fight for equalizer, please don't let them equalize before looking for another goal,so please, please coach Appiah advise your players to advoid that kind of playing and look for more goals, you know any time you score your first goal, the the joy and happiness attract the supporters to give more support to the team, and also make the oppornate wick, so if you allow the oppornate to wake in your defence, than you are giving them more power to equalise, please we need more goals in our home groud ahead of time in our returning match in Egypt. We need 3 or 4 goals in our favor,(Ghana)and we can make it happen if we advoid from what am saying now, than the victory will be for us, God bless Ghana and God bless the black stars.

With the injuries and suspensions, Ghana main problem will be the defence. However, Baba Rahman is a good defender who should be part of the defence setup. The midfield and strikers are worldclass.

You dont have to wash your old cloths and dry them outside. So can you tell me that Lampard and most of the Europian footballers are using their real ages, please next time be mindful of the way you come out those things they can bring down the image of the country in terms of football.
