I agree with you to some extent ,but I must be honest with you, using netball as an example is not right because netball is not an internationally recognized sports.

You can’t have a “top athlete or a top sport team”
without a qualified Technical Director & Scientific Consultant with international Knowledge.
Let me tell you about…the importance of special and personalized training, correct nutrition in sport etc. etc.
1) correct nutrition (means: what to eat and drink: before, during and after the training or the competition)
2) special and personalized training programs like: Aerobic a/o an/aerobic, Cardiovascular Training, Cardio Respiratory Endurance, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Periodization of Training e.g.: Pre Season, In Season and Closed Season, “Fartlek”, Interval Training for Sport Specific Endurance, about the importance of: the warm up, cool down, heart rate, stretching, breathing techniques, the importance of the recovering time after training a/o competition, psycho training, pulse control and body care like: massage etc.
3) of the importance of the ”training register”, weight and blood pressure Control, regularly cardiovascular and respiratory tests, e.g.: an individual maximal Aerobic capacity test is generally considered the best indicator of cardio respiratory endurance and last not least 4) instruction of the importance of the medical control in case of physically problems, injuries or rehabilitation etc.
I remember: A complete athlete “top athlete” needs to respect and balance all this components.
The more “scientific, progressive and specific” a training plan is, the more successful it will be.
N.B.: The aim of a “scientific, progressive and specific” training plan is to produce the optimum effect with no wasted training time or effort.
My suggestion: It’s time to: “climb up in the chattel for the start in the future”…

It’s time to change: my international experience as organizer of sport-events and ex-plural-world-champion at the World Medical Games teach me…
a) a “successful” Sport CLUB (small or big) has to be managed like an enterprise:
To be a SUCCESSFUL SPORT-CLUB today want say:
The right person at the right place (competence, ability, experience and international knowledge).
b) the capacity over a realistic valuation about the economic capacity from your Sport CLUB
c) an exact analyse from the “scientific” athletic preparation and capacity from any single athletes at your disposition for the different competition’s “
