I don't think Ghana is in a panic mode. The fact of the matter is we need all our available resources in order to make it to Brazil. And the reality is we are facing a team with experienced stars who have had the luxury of camping and gelling for long periods and whose preparation is actually in progress. So in order to counter them properly, we need the players with the temperament and experience in playing in crucial ties. I believe we lost the Cup of Nations to Egypt in 2010 because of the inexperience of our young players. Not only that our current No 1 keeper has not been playing competitive football and his weaknesses were exposed by the Zambians. What we are doing is an attempt to correct our weaknesses and loopholes before the tie kicks off. Zambia recalled about 4 experienced players to their squad and 2 of them were able to put on excellent performances to thwart the goal hungry Black Stars attackers on several occasions. Egypt is a different proposition to Zambia so employing all our available resources to counter any thing they will throw at us is a very good idea and not a panic mode.

Mr. Kenneth: A coach can only call-up a certain number of players. Bringing too many frail, injured and aging players diminishes out ability to draw in up-and-coming young and energetic talents who can go the distance. Nigeria surprised CIV by playing younger mostly inexperience team against the more matured and experienced Ivory Coast team the last AFCON. In 2010 Ghana almost won the AFCON with a largely inexperience players drawn from the U-20.
If you ask me I'd say Ghana must concentrate on confidence building, and team organization as the writer puts it. Employing a knee-jerk reaction to the challenge ahead is not the answer.
Do you honestly believe John Mensah can play a full 90 minutes? If Dauda has become rusty because of inactivity over an 8 month period, what should one expect from Kingston who have been largely inactive over 2 years?

Mr Africanus I couldn't respond earlier. But remember Essien had not played a competitive match for Chelsea this season. Yet we all saw his contribution when he came on against the Zambians. I bet you when it comes to the crunch, experience counts very much. But the key point is this: does trying to get all our resources to ensure we overpower the Egyptians in the 2 leg tie mean we are panicking? I don't think so. We want to ensure we have a solid defence and don't concede goals especially in the home tie. So, as far as I am concerned, it doesn't matter if experienced players are brought as long as they are fit.

The Stars need to play as a team. The defense must have an organisational general who carries the authority to remind the defense to be alert at all time. They must cover for each other, close spaces, and block potential manoeuvres by the Egyptians at all time.
Lastly, the Stars need to play kotoko or Hearts of Oak with its select team to gain needed practice as a unit. It is from this match Coach Appiah must select his final side to play Egypt.
Regards.

Thanks,Mr.Writer.Its always good to read a good material when you see one.It makes sense with all your presentations. Its organization we need at the back four..pure simple organization, that is the key.Boye, being the yard master, should take up the leadership role.He should be our key,as he links up our defense to the midfield and play with confidence that the remaining three has got his back.Kwasi A.was right-footed playing left full back and I have been expecting some tutelage from him on this position as we suffer a lot.
Thank you again for presenting a good material.

It is essential that we defend well and keep a clean sheet. We must defend in depth and break with pace and accuracy. We must be clinical up front.

if the head coach is a tactician as the Serbian coach, as the writer rightly pointed the national head coach has to organise the team laying much emphasis on the defence. The black stars has got talented players it`s a matter of tuning them tactically. The head coach should not bring back these old folks. May be Essien`s performance in the team against Zambia gives the impetus. The truth though is that Essien was active during his stay in Spain but this is not the case with Olele and Mensah. Ghana should not forget a similar mistake they made when Ghana decided Aggrey Fynn should coach the national senior team. They knew very well he was out of touch and had long left coahing and soccer so to speak. What happened was the team was totally disgraced when they played the match with Aggrey Fynn as the national coach for the Black Stars. Please do not forget these two guys have passed their prime they should be left at that.
