Adiyiah's failure to impress is typical of the strikers we have produced of late.
I can mention Emmanuel Clottey, Emmanuel Baffour and most recently, Assifuah of bronze-medallist Satellites fame.It looks like we expect so much of them so quickly that are not able to nurture them into maturity.
At the end of every league season, one player is bound to emerge as the goal king. Being a goal king in itself therefore should not be any big deal but we quickly confer superstar status on our them, lobby for their inclusion in the senior team and thus rush their development ahead of time. We then conclude that, they are a disappointment.
To emerge the top scorer in a gold-winning world U20 competition, is definitely a big achievement. What we must note however is that, at this stage, the players are "boys" who must be allowed to grow into "men".
The lesson here is that, we should not rush our potential stars.

I certainly agree with you on that note. Look at Essien. Essein was helped by a Portuguese Coach at Chelsea, or else he is history. Dominic is a great player. During the 2009 U20, he scored the most goals in the tournament, in Egypt. He need to be considered to join the Ghana Black Stars team fast, no delay. I am sure that Kwasi Appiah is listening, since he was once Ghana Black Stars player and won the African Football Cup for Ghana in 1982. Dominic Adiyaih is at the right place now, make his shine like a true star.

adyiah had made it relatively big on the local scene but in that squad he wasn't a big maker neccessarily. that squad big makers upfront were ransford osei and saddick adams until silas tetteh introduced dede ayew and adiyiah to distort the process. adiyah and dede were more selfish players unlike ransford and saddick who played for each other. at the world youth championship adiyiah used his selfish instinct to his great advantage. to me at the time i felt he was going to have it very hard later because i felt he wasn't the player who should have been seen the star.

That was clearly an "AWAM" AWARD THEY GAVE TO Adiyiah - that award belonged to DEDE AYEW who was easily the star of the tournament. Ghanaians saw it,but didn't complain because it was given to another Ghanaian. See how people jubilated about Dan Addo's and Odartey Lamptey's BEST PLAYER awards. Why didn't we do the same about Adiyiah's? Because we all knew Dede deserved that AWARD, the golden shoe, while Adiyiah should have got only the golden boot. Dede's contribution to the team far outweighed Adiyiah's whose goals were mostly created by captain DEDE.But hey- they are both Ghanaians SO WE DIDN'T really make a big deal out of it.

Here are few recent winners of the Golden Ball for best player at the u-17 World Cup, Phillip Osundo of Nigeria, William de Oliveira of Brazil, Scottish goalkeeper James Will, Mohammed al-Kathiri of Oman and the rest of the none Ghanaian players.
Here is my question to you. Are you telling me that these players cheated too? As you can see, their profession in football didn't get anywhere. If your answer is yes they too cheated, then how were they able to do so since none of them is a Ghanaian? And if your answer is no they didn't cheat, then why do they came out un-noticed though were the best in their age?
Not every unsuccessful path in football is due to cheating. This is why it is very important to contact your maker during decision making. MAYBE, this is an example folks. I repeat, MAYBE Adiyiah wasn't created to become a football but because he didn't listen to the inner voice, he missed it.
MAYBE he didn't make the right decision and that ended him in this predicament. MAYBE he lacks something and unless that thing is handed to him, there is nothing he could have done to come up big. MAYBE this is not his time to be the best he could be. This means, the Lord is in control.
One good thing about all these MAYBEs is that until your Maker has taken your last breath away from you, there is still hope of making it to the top. Therefore, I believe Adiyiah, though is not as successful as expected, still has the time to make it. So don't condemn him yet because you have no clue what caused such misfortune.
Moreover, these couple of reasons should let you know that one's unfortunate incident couldn't be concluded based on other's mistakes or even that person single mistake. Anything at all could be the results of the players' you mentioned inability of success. Therefore, try not to be narrow minded.

I emember immediately after the game when he started saying that he hoped to be like Aguerro, and I said oh mine he has not got the mindset of a winner. The Lord says: Shoot for the sky and when youget caught in the ceilng you settle for that. Adiyiah never had the min to be the very bet on earth, and so he has never build his body for that in spite of his innate talent.
The mind is the determinant vision, goals, efforts anb outcome. Adiyiah did not build his ind for great things.
