NDC GOVERNMENT MUST SOLVE GHANA’S SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROBLEMS
NDC Government under President John Dramani Mahama must now help Ghana. 25 years of ruling a country is no mean achievement. Now, having won the Supreme Court case, the way is clear for NDCs to produce positive results in government. Their politicians, scholars, serial web writers and political commentators must come together to solve real socio-economic problems facing the poor country: The people want action, and for that matter, I am personally happy that NPP’s Election Petition has come to an end: We now face reality, which is NDC's exposure to socio-economic problems they have created in Ghana since their return to power in 2008, including the following:
- Woyome and Judgement Debts - the mounting revelations from Apau's Commission and the monies involved are huge and even far more than the GH8300000000000.00 we first estimated. We can do a lot with this money like constructing KVIP Toilets to relieve many Ghanaians who openly defecate along our beaches in the coastal areas of Volta, Accra and Central Regions; tree stumps and manholes in Eastern, Brong Ahafo and Ashanti Regions and the Savannah plains in Northern Ghana; as well as plastic bags in the country’s Markets…This is the bestial level NDC has plunged Ghana into after ruling us for 25 good years.

You have hit the nail on the head. All this petition was all about the identity of the victor who comes from north. The margin of victory in the 2008 election was narrower than that of 2012 yet there was no case against the results of that election.Hmmmm Thommy Thomson indicated rightly the other time that the election petition was all about John Mahama and one could not agree more. It's a pity that Bahummia was put forward to doing the dirty bidding. Now that they have lost, he and northerners will soon realize his folly. The dust has not yet settled but his name has disappeared from the potential flag bearers; there is a talk of Nana running for the third time, and they soon argue that the vice should be Keremanteng or another person for a change. This is a lesson for northern politicians and Mahama himself. Let's take the case of the distribution of higher education, he has rushed to establish a new university for the eastern region- a traveling distant from Accra and Kumasi but all of the north still deserves one Unviversity campus which they must share without basic insfrastructure. Why can't each region of the north have an autonomous university campus? Go up north and see the roads. God save northern Ghana

A lot of your brothers in the south support a well-developed north. Remember, Nkrumah (a southerner) did his best to bridge the educational and infrastructural gap between the north and south by offering "affirmative action" free education and factories to the northerners. Both Limann and Mahama won a majority of southern votes to become President.
Unfortunately, our brothers residing the north should also share the blame. Sadly, there were northerners who supported Kotoka to overthrow Nkrumah. Also Rawlings received loyal support from northerners when he overthrew Limann. The problem here is not between north and south but just pure ignorance. The development of Ghana should not be at the expense of either the North or South. Ghana will not develop if the North is not developed. Even though a majority of Ghanaians in the south are still poor we need to reduce the poverty gap between the North and South. This is not only a challenge for President Mahama but for all Presidents and political leaders.

The writer obviously is ethno-centric, uninformed and inward looking. The election petition was not about Northerners or Maham;, it was about an election process fraught with irregularities. That the party in power that won the contested election had a Northerner as a flag bearer was a random occurrence (and specifically for Mahama, an accident of history).
The writer should remember a Northerner, Dr. Hilla Limann, a Northerner won a fair and squarely contested election, and this was over 15 years ago. This proves Ghana had a "paradigm shift" more than two decades ago----long before Mahama's presence!
As for the North South problem he alludes to; the writer should pause and think, --the Northerners, in general are their own worst enemies. Where are the contemporary tribal war-fares in Ghana?---and was it the Southerners who caused it? I have nothing against Northerners, but l cannot suffer intellectually corrupt and uneducated bigots and fools like the writer, who happens to be a Northerner.

From time inmemorial the north has always been on the receiving end of being treated as the scum of our beloved nation Ghana yet there's been a lot of highly respected and educated citizens who have held and continue to hold vital positions in government like our current president.
These individuals saw the self-wealth in them and proved to all that the north isn't different from the rest of the nation. Mark Twain once said " Let us endeavour to live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry".
Filing a petition over an election in my opinion cannot be as a result of the person involved being a northener. I really don't see this as causing any paradigm shitf. May be Ghanaians are beginning to vote based on issues.

Just think of how much Ghana has sunk into usesless nkomfem and goat skin wars in the past 45 years alone. Why is it that you refuse postings up north after your education? And talking about presidents, was it not Akatapore, Matthew Adabugah, Chris Atim and others, who led the scheme for the overthrow of Limann?
What a country!

Papillon, it is unfortunate that you do not see the wrong done by northerners to their fellow northerners. They all had free education at the expense of we the southerners from our cocoa farms, gold mining and other high yielding natural resources from the south. The north has failed to develop itself because its people especially the highly educated who had FREE EDUCATION see themselves as demi-gods to be worshipped by the fellow northerners. This is the crux of the matter. The writer certainly is an apology of the policy Nkrumah instituted to have him go through formal education for free. Shame on you Mr. writer.
