Perhaps you are not familiar with the history of Ghana that is why you can make such a ludicrous suggestion.
The very existence of that NPP group of people is hinged on the hatred of Kwame Nkrumah. It is the fuel that drives their existence.
It may actually be true that Ghanaians are looking for a person like Nkrumah but anybody in that group of willing CIA operatives would be a wrong choice. The very suggestion would make Nkrumah himself cringe with horror in his grave.

Danny, Alan must act strategically if he decides to contest for the NPP primaries and to secure the presidency in 2016. He must consult before he comes out publicly. He will need the Akufo-Addo faction to secure victory and if he comes out without consulting them, he could be seen as having abandoned the ship when the going was tough.
It was reported yesterday that Nana Akufo-Addo may try his luck for the third time, according to Sir John. If that is true then Alan should not even contest the primaries since that will widen the differences between the factions within the party. Provided his health is ok, I do not think age should be a barriers to Nana Akufo-Addo.
The chances of whoever challenges President Mahama will depend on how successful Mahama is able to deliver his manifesto promises. From what I am hearing (from reliable sources), the government is struggling to find money to deliver their programmes. Just look at the flood in the north and ask yourself why NADMO has not been able to provide relief assistance to the victims? If Mahama does not deliver, he will be a one-term president and whether, it's Nana, Alan or Bawumia, Mahama will be in trouble in 2016.
Strategically, NPP must be very careful with selecting a presidential candidate. Someone suggested Bawumia and Madam Obosshie from Greater Accra. I am not sure of Bawumia's support base within the top hierarchy of NPP but that would be an excellent combination because the votes from the north will be shared between NDC and NPP. Greater Accra will go to NPP and with Asante and Eastern regions, the presidency will be theirs for the taking. This is also dependent on Mahama's performance. If he delivers then, Alan should wait till 2020, when there will be a new face on NDC's ticket.

Danny Boy, by your suggestions and possibilities, I don't think the assumed leadership of Alan Kyerematen would hand NPP a decisive advantage to unseat NDC's John Mahama at the next Elections. Firstly, we need to look at the chances of Alan Kyerematen winning NPP's primaries. Potentially, Alan Kyerematen might lose to Dr Bawumia let alone the chance to come up against NDC's John Mahama. Yes, Alan Kyerematen has the intellect, he's an excellent speaker, and possess a charismatic appeal, and may be more attractive to some floating voters but there's serious concern over Alan's loyalty to NPP. Some inside the NPP doubt his loyalty following allegations that he 'left' the party after losing to Nana Akufo-Addo. I think Dr Bawumia's sympathisers and propagandists loyal to Nana Akufo-Addo will exploit this at the party's Primaries.
Danny Boy, at the moment "you and I" can only speculate on the sort of NPP leader who might have a better chance of unseating President John Mahama. From my observation, Dr Bawumia is probably the best choice NPP could make given that Alan Kyerematen would reopen the party's Asante-Akyem division. My reasons for Bawumia having the edge over Kyerematen are: Bawumia has been marketed under Akufo-Addo's unsuccessful attempts. He has gained considerable political experience of Ghana's political contours. He has learned the dynamics of party strategy and election campaigns. Whereas, Bawumia was visible on TV screens during NPP's Petition at the SC, Kyerematen was unseen and unheard. The Petition has boosted Bawumia's image and help connect him to NPP's supporters and the general public. And I think when NPP's Delegates meet at the primaries, Bawumia will have solid reasons to campaign for the party's Presidential candidacy.
Again, choosing Bawumia could help 'detoxify' NPP. There's the negative impression that NPP is an "Akan" party. This is something NDC has spread, and done serious harm to NPP at elections.
I believe NPP would be wrong to choose Alan Kyerematen over Dr Bawumia if the party stands any chance of regaining political power.

You are not trying to compare Mahama's political experience to that of Kyreremanteng. Morover, more confusion will erupt in NPP when the darling boy Bawumia is sidelined making the party to as usual stand as a NO GO AREA for any tribe besides Ashanti/Akyem. The party will lose big this time in the North should Bawumia be side lined and will only rely on Ashanti and eastern regions which can not save them. Concerning the state of Ghana's economy most people are putting the blame on NPP already for scaring away investors and burning markets e.t.c. I do not see any real chances for any candidate in NPP, Bawumiah would have disturbed President Mahama in the North but even so he will also fall short of some Ashanti region votes still making it difficult to win. Mark it on the wall, President Mahama will beat any of the NPP candidates.

Do you even remember Mahama making such stupid comment that, NPP should put a Northerner to face him, forgotten that his just happened by chance? NPP better do it right this time.
They need to get away from their internal democracy and do what is right, even if they had to copy Mr. Rawlings' swedru declaration and impose Dr. Bawumia.
I have recommended Bawumia and Oboshie Sai or Dan Botwe. These two will win easily.
Ministry of Health- Dr. Frimpong with Arthur-K as his deputy. That is what I have been dreaming all along, unlike the square pegs we have now destroying our health care.
Alan Kyerematen could be the - Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Amidu could be recalled to help if he wants to help for Attorney General. If not, Addison or anyone on the petitioners' team could be used.
Just compare that to what we have now..

"The Asante-Akyem label given to NPP by NDC tribalists needs to be removed, and that is why it is important to choose a non-AKAN to lead the party"
This label was not given to the NPP by any one but brought upon themselves. If such a large segment of people should believe in such a tag given to the NPP then there must be some truth in it.
NPP has been making a couple of errors since its formation because the party seems to have been founded on hatred and acrimony and they have struggled to come out of that shadow ever since.
Every NPP member that i have interacted with hates one of the 3 three below and I wonder why.
1) Kwame Nkrumah
2) Jerry Rawlings
3) Ewes.
I hope some one will provide me answers.

Do you believe that NDC is an EWE party? If you believe that then there is truth in what you are saying because it is a known fact that 90% of Voltarians will vote for NDC all the time. Why is then that NDC is not known as an EWE party? If you don't believe that, then your point is moot and illogical.
I can agree with you that NPP people dislike Nkrumah or Rawlings for reasons best known to them. It is purely political and therefore, I don't see your point here. Because, I am yet to hear any NDC member saying good things about Busia, JB Danquah or Kufuor. But please, will you give me a break about the assumption that NPP people wake up and all the do is to think about Ewes. Where do you get that from?
Seriously, it is only on this stupid Ghanaweb that some no-gooders and misers who have never been to anywhere and just moved from their villages to Europe, America or Canada keep on saying this stupid things. And you might be one of them. And I am not kidding. You need to free yourself from that.
I have been to New York and I can tell you that there are Ewes and Asantes who are inseparable. In fact, I was at a funeral and I gathered that it was an Ewe who organized that funeral for his best friend, an Asante. And it happened just because, his Asante friend followed him to Ghana to help him organized his mother's funeral in the Volta region. Go to Toronto and you see Ewes and Akans doing everything together. And in Kumasi, the citadel of African cosmopolitan, the Asantes have places for everyone, who are doing their businesses. You will be amazed to see many Ewes, Fantis, Gas and others who consider themselves as Kumasinos first. And they have been there before I was born. Where were you when those with Akan names perceived as Asantes were been refused to register in Accra. Do you think that can happen in Kumasi. Sometimes, some of you regurgitate some silly things being spew out by propagandists without thinking through.
Do you know how Kufuor was insulted by Ablakwa, Koku, Segbefia and others? You did not see that as Ewes attacking or hating an Asante, right? I bet at that time, your hearing aid or prescription glasses were with the technicians. Did you just get them back? Stop feeding yourself with filth that is going on here and fill yourself with the good tidings like what Dr. Pryce has put here. He is not an Asante, but he wants the strong opposition for our nascent democracy. That is what we have to consume ourselves with. Find yourself an Akan friend and deliver yourself from that imaginary Ewe-Asante war going on. I am saying this, because I miss my friend here. I just changed location and number and I need to contact her again. But we chat till wee hours. And we are not from the same tribe. Our chats centers on our professions and how best we could use that to help our country. That is what I expect from you.

Nyansasem you absolutely said it right. NPP will never learn and will continue to make the same mistake over and over. Why will other ethnic groups vote for your beleaguered party when they keep on choosing only Akans and expect other ethnic groups to support them. That is not going to happen. Until NPP becomes a more diversified party and recognizes the importance of other minorities and the possibility of choosing a minority as the flagbearer of the party, they are likely to run into similar problems as showcased by the 2012 general elections. When will they learn maybe never?

Its like the republican party sticking to whites base, there are not enough white votes to win the presidency..NDC has a nice coalition going..so far presidential candidates from Volta, Central and Northern. Easy to get buy-in from other tribes and regions that everyone has a chance in NDC.
..NPP has to do the same....Volta voted over 90 percent for the Mahama/ Amissah ticket, there was no Ewe on the ticket but they knew that was their ticket...NDC go their back....If Ashanti/Akyems cannot vote for an NPP ticket headed by folks outside the region, then the problem is worse than just a label..it was be outright bigotry and the NPP will die a natural death..No one can rig elections in Ghana again..
Suppose there is no coup for the next 20 years, will NPP for 40 years field only Ashanti/Akyem and claim to be a national party? No. even Busia/Danquah will not agree to that..
it is the strength of advocacy that will win the presidency but you need to remove the Ashanti/ Akyem label first....

Do you know what the Asante area is? Asante consists of not only Asante region, but almost the whole of Bono-Ahafo region (formerly western Asante region), places in the Eastern Region like New Juaben (Koforidua), places in the Volta region like Worawora and many many other areas outside of the Asante region. Secondly, Nana Akufo Addo is not an Asona royal or Akyem-Abuakwa royal. He is an Oyoko royal (i.e. ruling clan of Asante). On the other hand Alan Kyeremanten is a blood relative of the Okyenhene, why? Alan is a royal of Ejisu in Asante, which belong to the Asona clan. The people of the Asona clan of Akyem-Abuakwa, Ejisu, Offinso etc. were all one people, which migrated from Adanse to their present places. Last, but not least Asante and Akyem are not tribes, but Akan states. Asante was founded as an union of people from many different localities with different historical backgrounds.
When did Kufuor become an Asante? Kufuor is a Denkyira by Akan tradition. Yes, his father Nana Kwadwo Agyekum was the Oyokohene of Kumase state (head of the Kumase-Oyoko royal family). However, we Akans are maternal and therefore belong to the maternal family of our mother (both his mothers father and mother hail from Denkyira). After all, Kufuor his grandfather (i.e. father of his mother), Nana Kwabena Kufuor abdicated the Nkawie stool (which was a powerful stool in the ancient Denkyira kingdom) to become Denkyirahene. Indeed, he told the British he was not a real Asante and oppossed the restoration of Asanteman. Even though he was one of the richest person in the whole of Asante at that time, he refused to contribute anything to Asante.

How many times has he been quoted by other well known international economists?
Bawumia is not better or worse than any other phd holder in Economics and Ghana has thousands of these. He was only lucky to have gotten scholarships through connection to study abroad. And his performance at the court isn't stellar. He could have done better if he were smarter. If he were smarter he could've taken a low profile in a case that he should have known was doomed to fail.

insist and make sure genuine electoral reforms are in place, it wouldn't matter who is at the top of the ticket [which I strongly believe will be Bawumia] NPP will lose again. Mark this space.

Dinosaurs are extinct because they failed or rather refused to adapt to their changing environment. A similar fate awaits the Npp if they fail to learn from history.

Nothing hurts more than to be used and dumped as is happening to Dr Pink Shit. But in all fairness, we all saw it coming. Only he didn't. Now, he'll make a lot of sense of the adage that says that only fools dance with lions.

Keep on dreaming. After Mahama's first term, he will win Ashanti and Eastern Regions. But it is okay to dream of buying a cow than to perform a funeral. Keep on dreaming of another NPP Hope.

Danny, I would be happy for you to write to canvass for Bawumia and not Kyeremateng to become the flag bearer of the NPP. For all intense purposes, Kyeremateng is an opportunist. He would divide the party. He would not have been around if he were successful in his bid to become the head of IMF. Thanks a lot. I enjoy reading your comments. May God bless you always.

You got it wrong Pryce, a true statesman does not go to court after an election because he lost and set his country back. If there was anything good about the action he took he should have won the case at the SC.
I bet with my last ounce of blood that only Ashantes and Akyems will vote for NPP even angels are commandeered from heaven to campaign for them . You do not insult all other tribes, calling for their annihilation from the cou ...

I WILL ADVISE THAT BOTH NANA AND KYEREMATENG MUST COMBINE THEIR FORCES IN 2016. EVEN THAT THEY WILL LOS E . GHANA DOES NOT NEED EITHER OF THEM TO RULE. MAHAMA ALL THE WAY.
Danny, Alan must act strategically if he decides to contest for the NPP primaries and to secure the presidency in 2016. He must consult before he comes out publicly. He will need the Akufo-Addo faction to secure victory and i ...

Strategically, it is unwise to choose Alan-K to lead NPP. The Asante-Akyem label given to NPP by NDC tribalists needs to be removed, and that is why it is important to choose a non-AKAN to lead the party. It is simple.

Strategically, it would be wise for the NPP to market Bawumia or any other budding candidates with national appeal
If they refused to put Bawumia, then NDC will have a field day using their manufactured label- Asante/Akyem party- again. I hope NPP should not fall for this. We want to move from tribal politics to plans, policies and progra ...

Ghana is wasting precious resources- Square pegs in round holes; Mahama over Akuffo-Addo as president? Partisanship and tribalism over competence.

Bawumia does not have what it will take to be president. He will end up worse than Mahama. I will vote for Kyerematen.
