While we await the exercise of right of reply by Awaah to which he is entitled I think your petition should have been served to all member unions of AASU who elected Awaah and to whom Awaah is accountable. I can understand your reasons for petitioning the authorities of Ghana but I doubt they have the real authority to intervene and sanction Awaa except cautioning him to behave. Point is, AASU may be bound by the laws of Ghana but it is answerable to the constituencies. You see?

This type of wrangling has been going on for too long. Can the leadership of the constituencies help check it? Not good at all for AASU image.

Why don't you deal with this matter in court if your allegations are true. Don't forget the black man is not afraid of petitions, he shudders at the demonstration of unbiased potent power. It is a simple case of abuse of office and funds. Your petition though appropriate will end with your readership if you leave it to AASU secretariat. His cronies will cover him without further investigation leading to an impeachment. Like Martin Amidu, fight your case in court to sanitise the system. I guess this is not too much to ask.

AASU could be a portent force for advancement in Africa if properly focused. I helped in the organisation of its General Meeting in Accra during the AFRC period.
AASU should reach agreements with universities, etc. overseas for all African students to be affiliated to firms during long vacs and then for at least 1 yr after graduation in order to get practical and professional experience in their respective fields of specialisation. Only countries and univs. willing to do this shall receive African students.
The advice given to Nkrumah in the very early 50s by Sir Arthur Lewis was to find suitably qualified Africans to send abroad to acquire skills and experience in industries but then whole thing turned into finding prospective students to study abroad and then come home without a clue as to how to implement the theories they were taught.

Mr. Awaah, if any of these allegations are true: be honorable n step down. Or else the petitioner should let the law of Ghana deal with you n that is more embarrassing.

Is this a joke or what. I thought such an org would be fighting corruption rather than encouraging it.
