That which is a travesty of justice is the stealing of votes and verdict to impose on innocent Ghanaians an incompetent JDM. Ghana will surely explode if the SC chickens out and fails to administer justice in the ongoing election petition. The court needs to kill the snake by cutting off its head. This implies asking JDM to descend from the throne and avoiding a runoff.

You must have believed the thrash Owusu Afriyie fed you on his recent US trip. The fact is, no votes were stolen. Errors may have been made in recording in some cases but if you analyse the collation sheet (pink sheet) in its entirety, the corrections can be made, and were made in the recording of actual votes cast.
Why do you insist on the old, tired, false accusation? Please let us all start by learning and speaking the TRUTH if we want to move forward as a nation.
I am saddened that in our desperation for power, people easily lose it, and simply throw virtue out of the window!!! You are simply wrong, there was no "stealing of votes" in the election.

Kofi, like you, I have never understood why the petitioners did not diplomatically withdraw their case once it was crystal clear that there was no collusion, no rigging and certainly no favouritism on the part of the electoral commission to favour the winning candidate- president Mahama.
For the NPP extremists to have shut out even the voices of reason in their own party, and to castigate all others and insist that they have a case, based on human errors in recording which essentially did not affect the actual tally of the votes, and to stand on that weak thread to ask for annulment of millions of actual votes cast in their favour is beyond me.
If in their book this is what true democracy means, and if in their so-called "Let My Vote Count" philosophy, this is what they mean, then we are indeed in trouble, and our democracy has a long way to go.
It seems to me what these extremists are seeking to do in Ghana is akin to what the weak, divided and confused opposition did in Egypt, linking up with the 'Mubarak Military and security forces' to overthrow a democratically elected president and his government simply because they don't like his style of government and what they (the majority, however different in philosophy and religious leaning) had chosen to do after so many decades in the wilderness.
In the case of Ghana, I have a strong feeling that whatever the outcome of this case, the millions whose votes have been 'threatened' by the NPP extremists will not forget easily, and medium to long term, I believe this very episode will harm the NPP.
They have a long road to work their way back into the trust of Ghanaians otherwise they will see the Mugabe type of landslide at the next elections where people will simply come out to demonstrate to them that they will not 'take any chances' or allow for 'any margin of error' in declaring who they wish to support. Whether that in itself will be good or bad for our democracy is another matter.

Paul, those of you who are saying the NPP is made up of a bunch of extremist should be careful of that talk as it invites tit for tat passionate debates that is not helpful. Electorally it seem some of you have not grasped the import of numbers especially for the presidency. Read ben Epson's posting. If a party can only win two regions and still come within a whisker of taking the presidency then NDC must understand they will not run the country forever.
We need level headed discussions on accountability and probity in our political discussions and governance. Bashing does not inspire collaboration and understanding which we all need for our democracy. How will you want me to work with you when you call me names? That is where extreme positions starts. Lets based our calls on facts not on hearsay or false perceptions. Nana is a leader, you cannot I isolate him from the group he leads. It is an insult to say he is fine for you but for a few extremist ones who are the problem. It is like saying Mahama is a good President except for a few corrupt and recalcitrant agitators in the NDC?
The SC will apply the Constitution and the Laws regarding the electoral processes and system. If votes have to be invalidated based on the law so be it. We are supposed to be governed by the Constitution and laws not divine grace and peoples logic as to what should be or must be viewed as fairness.
Paul I disagree with your arguments regarding the Egyptian and the Mugabe situation. You only know "the known but not the unknown" as Donald Rumsfeld said. Lets leave it as that.

This is a very stupid article designed to deceive Ghanaians after the EC and NDC have been caught stealing. The fact is many have already been cancelled by the EC for reasons such as no signatures on the pink sheets and over-voting. All the Petitioners are doing is asking the EC to be consistent in applying the law, which the EC has already applied selectively. The EC has already annulled some people's votes for the dame infractions. The constitution says that only valid votes should be counted and pink sheets without signatures are not valid and therefore all the votes that polling station should be annulled. This particular law was not written by the NPP or the NDC, it is the law. We must always conduct ourselves in accordance with the constitution of Ghana, that is what lawful and legitimate governments do.

It seems you do not really understand what you are talking about. Let me educate you a little about electoral laws. Invalidation of a vote is determined by the presiding officer in consultation with the polling agents representing participating political parties. It strictly limit itself to the ballot paper. A ballot paper is deemed invalid based on the ff.. 1 no mark on the paper showing voter's choice 2. More than a mark which represent the choice of more than one candidate 3. Improperly making a mark across a dividing line which makes it difficult to determine which candidate is being voted for 4 a completely defaced ballot paper. So it is not a fact that the presiding officer can invalidate a ballot based on an unsigned pink sheet which is his responsibility to do so. Also, what I want you to understand is that when dealing with pink sheets in an electoral issue like this, the totality of pink sheets are brought up for scrutiny and not part. This is what NPP has done. How do you talk about pink sheets when over 2000 others have been shelved? Who knows what is there that they are trying to hide from the public. There should be fairness in dealing with matters bordering on election issues. I am writing this as a former returning officer.

Dear Kofi Thomson like yourself, what some of us on this planet earth who are fair minded find shameful is you and your NDC sympathizers propagandist assertion that NPP is violent and NDC is not. HOW ABOUT THE VERBAL VIOLENCE AGAINST NANA ADDO AND FAMILY by Fifi Kwetey and Anita de Soso and others. And how about the violence going on in the country now on the DCE issues? You only see the problem as the violent group around Nana. How about the violent and corrupt group around Mahama? We do not have blank memories. We also live in Ghana. NDC (P/NDC) was born out of violence and some of its followers think we are still living in the PNDC period when the rule of law was a travesty and our fathers and brothers disappeared or were murdered.
This NDC and its government do not respect the SC or our judicial branch rulings. They do not respect court decisions and are not prepared to bring corrupt official to account. NDC wants Peace not justice so that they can continue to steal and loot the tax payers funds.
NPP went to court because they were asked to go to court to seek justice by the incompetent Afari Djan and its hopeless law violating electoral system which benefited only NDC.
At the SC they deal with the Constitution and the Laws and not the puffing you and your lawyers and propagandist have bee spewing out.
The SC will apply the Constitution Law, your confused arguments not withstanding. They are not going to push it to someone as Afari Djan did. They will deal with the core legal violations so that the next EC and the parties can fix the problems. They will not postpone it. It could be NDC in front of the SC next time.
We await August 29. 2013 when the Constitution and the law and Justice will Rule Supreme.

I think people can always go to the supreme court to argue and get power. Anyway let me ask my fellow Ghanaians these questions. Did Nana Ado sign a document in Kumasi pledging to accept the outcome of the December election?
What happens and he changed his mind and went to court? Why didn't Nana sue the presiding officers who refused to sign the pink sheets? His own polling agents who were there and failed him as he claimed? Because these officers are still alive. Why didn't other political parties and their agents complaint? Is it only Nana and NPP that have the divine right to rule Ghana? Why didn't the peace council advise Nana and his People earlier and allowed him to proceed to court? Now we are all crying that people should accept the SC verdict. Who should accept what? Will Nana this time around accept the outcome? What is the proof? Or the peace council and others have a target that some one else either than Nana must necessarily accept the SC verdict? Could we have prosecuted all those who made the mistakes on the pink sheets instead? Because they are all alive? Please we should not let some individuals think that the word right is only meant for they and their families. Is Nana more important than the millions of Ghanaians he is seeking to disqualify to become president? THESE QUESTIONS ARE DISTURBING MY MIND.
