You are making a BIG mistake by thinking that boarding schools are better than day schools in terms of academic excellence. They are restricted but not compelled to study as you are thinking. Boarding schools are for those who come from relatively poor backgrounds and need places to sleep and be fed at the same time saving money on transportation costs. Take it or leave it, if you think attending a boarding school will give you and added advantage, then you missed the whole point. Name a boarding school where the day students failed their exams whilst the boarders passed.

John,I completely disagree with you for every point that you raised.I was a day student during my time and obtained one of the best grades in my school,a record that still stands. My junir brother was also a day student and had proven that, boarding has nothing to do as far as acquiring knowledge in secondary schools is concerned. If anything at all, boarding has rather had many effects on the lives of students in so many ways which we all know. By the way, what is the sense in being a boarder when the school is so close to your house or is within your community?

The quality of teaching investment, the type and quality of teacher, their dedication, knowledge and application plus the aptitude and attitude of pupils/students (and their parents - PTA inputs) and the governance of the school are far more important than whether they are DAY or BOARDING.
Whilst there is a lot to said about the development of the whole person, leadership and independence in the boarding school system, academic achievement in my view should be looked at from a broad range of perspectives. You will agree that we have had some excellent boarding schools over the years, but equally terrible ones too.
Whilst a 'boarding experience' might be useful, it is not the panacea to a good education in my view.

High schools in most countries are day schools. This enables them to spend resources on classroom instructions. They don't provide subsidized accommodations for teachers etc. More boarding schools is not the answer.

In terms of rating Boarding School to Day school, do consider the Cost Analysis Institutions have done to Favour the day Students, Management of Schools knows the challenges involved with day students so Fees are not made equal to that of Boarding student. Unlike discipline for both Boarding and Day students I believe good rating will let the cat out of the basket that mostly students from Boarding school end up with uncontrollable character to that of their counterpart. Reason being that, Day students get strict attention from their parent after classroom hours. A lots can be spoken against boarding school but I arrest my case here.

In my opinion, boarding schools are better than day schools because in boarding schools your child becomes self dependent and active. That major advantage of boarding school is that teacher and student ratio, I mean in boarding school class size is very limited about 10 - 15 students that teachers can give proper attention to all students.

Kids are often touted as better language learners than adults are. Hundreds of language learning products purport to facilitate learning like a child. Implicit within this assertion is that children learn organically and with minimal conscious effort. This is an enticing prospect for budding language learners, but is learning like a child really desirable
