Supreme Court Justices to spark civil war by ruling in favor of NDC ignoring a fact like 241,000 foreign votes credited to the NDC president to win by a margin of 300,000 over NPP presidential candidate Nana Addo. The total for foreign votes was 800 (eight hundred) but it came out as 241,000 for NDC.
This is only one instance of vote padding. Add the massive electoral fraud in Volta Region where possibly as many as the mid hundreds of thousands of votes got tucked into the NDC president’s tally combined with the torching of the IT section of the EC to destroy all evidence of fraud in the 2012 elections and the sum total is war.
There will be civil war dubbed “The 241,000 Civil War of Ghana 2013”
WARNING TO THE SECURITY FORCES
They cannot use muscle flexing to cow the will of the majority. Their role is to protect from outside invasion and not to turn the gun on the opposition political party fighting for justice and truth. They have short memory of Tema where they were pummeled by unarmed youths. Worst things await them.
They are very vulnerable only they don’t know and should desist from their intimidation tactics.
Burn, barracks, burn! This is by far the easiest way to defeat the evil uniformed personnel in Ghana.
If innocent marchers are shot there will be consequences. All barracks in the country will be torched and they will have nowhere to go but be corralled. That is when the retaliation will begin.
Then again this is war and can escalate when outside forces join in to crush the Gestapo forces in Ghana, if there is loss of civilian lives. Like in Libya where the army was pounded from the air into submission.

First, I want to congratulate you for writing on a serious anti-devtal canker in the midst of all pervasive focus on the election dispute. Even some from the Brotherhood {of Nitwits} have already started bring the election issue here instead of comment on the pertinent issue you raised. I just wonder why these NDC and NPP idiots and morons think they can rule us! They are supposed stupid and lack any focus!
That something must be done about the deep-rooted and institutionalised corruption at the ports of entry cannot be overstressed. I know a bit about the subject, so let me add a bit of that, having vented my spleen on the members of the Brotherhood.:-)
You mentioned 3 ways by which taxes are evaded. You did not mention cases where no taxes are paid at all, as the goods are just spirited out of the ports or entry points, often classified as personal effects. This happens especially at the airport or Ghana's borders, not the bush tracks smuggling into Ghana, btw. Of course, the customs officers and Police get their tips and look the other way, just as in the case of smuggling too. A lot of "armpit smuggling" by small time traders in small items such as mobile phones, jewellery, clothing. etc., fall under this category I am writing about. Even when apprehended by some over-zealot Police or custom officials, just to make scape goats out of them to give an impression of doing their jobs, I've to confess the Police and the AG's office are reluctant to prosecute them. Well, man must survive by some means, so worrying some hustler with 20-50 mobile phones in a hand luggage without their cases is hardly doing a yeoman's job to save taxes for Ghanaians! After all, the man can claim they are gifts to all his family members in his village who must also join the modern communication age!
There is also another big loophole area, classifying goods as not dutiable. Foreign missions, charities, the churches, govtal institutions, raw materials for industries, etc., are exempted from paying some duties. If you have the right connections, you can have your goods classified into the appropriate category and evade paying taxes. Industries exploit this loophole a lot, with some even known to import finished products and have them classified as inputs into their production process.
I don't know if this rule is this in place but I knew that well into the 1980s, returning students or expats who have been away from Ghana for over a year are exempted from paying duties on their belongings, classified as personal effects. Includes up to 4 fridges and cars. Some importers were recruiting foreign students to be bringing their items to Ghana, or shipping them in their names and clearing them with their documents.
There are other ingenious ways to evade duties but all said and done, I don't really blame some for trying to evade duties 'cos the regime of duty calculation in Ghana is simply punitive, unfair and farcical. Bring in a car or an item which is 8 yrs old which you bought at a knock down price, they open some old catalogues showing the make and brand new prices and wham! you are expected to pay a duty far higher than the cost of buying and shipping that item! The worse part is, if you abandoned your item or car, they are supposedly "auctioned" away, as you wrote, at a price far lower than even the duty they wanted you to pay to cronies and govt officials! Some are not even auctioned, they simply steal them for their own use. It is pure state organised robbery, supervised directly from the Castle! There is need for public revolt against this racket by the "thieves and thiefettes" supposedly ruling us!

Too many people are not paying taxes but expect development. That is why tax & duty collection is focussed at the entry points. It is important other areas pay taxes
