I hear u sir! As a Nigerian living in the UK, the import of this discrimination is really palpitating. If anybody really expected any different from someone like Theresa May, he needs his head examined. This is clearly one of several tens of UK policies thought up during family discussions with toothpicks in the mouth, over bottles of beer.
Ministers and their policies should be scrutinised to avoid this sort of shameless displays. If this goes thru, retaliation is a very possible reality. Let us not be afraid of it.

This is a great piece on the topic. But on the last paragraph, we have to demand that the British and other Western Democracies that prefer we rather stay out of their Countries desist from quietly condoning unfair trade practices and aiding our corrupt officials to hide their loot in their Financial Institutions.
The grossly skewed contracts for Western Businesses to extract our Natural Resources ever so cheaply, or take over our previous State Enterprises and the unfair Trade restrictions and manipulation of Markets by their Cartels immensely deepens our financial woes that forces us to migrate and live in those Countries.
Such is what our pioneers referred to as Economic subjugation, which did not automatically come to us with our Independence.
Increased Trade between them and us has always meant allowing them to take more and more from us under dubious Business contracts.
Our attempts to demand from them fairer conditions of Trade has often been intentionally read back to us as being diplomatically less friendly, or offensively nationalistic to them.
We are caught between the rock and hard place in the sense that whenever we stand up against any such instance of unfair Business negotiation, these richer Western Nations deem it as our rejection of Capitalism without which is believed to be impossible. Any Administration we freely elect to Power that begins to play hard ball with the West to get better Business and Financial deals for us immediately gets flagged as attempting to curb free Market Enterprise and subjected to all kinds of financial manipulations and political proxy rebuffs via our opposition elements at the period.
We can only break the cycle by first demanding

1. WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING MONEY, FORGET ABOUT ETHICS.
EG.THROUGH THE SLAVE TRADE THEY CAUSGHT THOUSANDS OF AFRICANS LIKE DONKEYS TO WORK FOR THEM WITHOUT PAY AND USED IT TO BUILD THE LONDON UNDERGROUND EMPIRE STATE BUILDING ETC. TODAY THEY ARE SO RICH.
BY CHARGING 3000 POUNDS FOR VISITOR THE UK CAN MAKE 1 BILLION POUNDS PROFIT PER MONTH FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS. THEY CAN USE THAT TO BUILD NEW CITIES AND SHORE UP THIER ECONOMIES AND USE A LITTLE BIT OF IT AS DEVELOPMENT AID FOR THE VERY COUNTRIES OUT OF WHOM THEY MILLKED THE MOENY FROM. HA HA. JOHN BULL IS VERY SMART
WHAT CAN WE AFRICANS LEARN FROM THEM?
MY PROPOSAL
WE AFRICANS SHOULD LEGALISE MARIJUANA AND EXPORT IT TO PORTUGAL WHO HAVE ALSO UNBANNED THE DRUG. WE CAN MAKE MILLIONS OF POUND EACH MONTH. FORGET ABOUT ETHICS JUST AS JOHN BULL IS DOING. ONCE THE MARIJUANA GETS TO PORTUGAL, ALL THEM HYPOCRITICAL LAW ENFOREMENCE OFFICERS WILL FLOCK TO LISBON FOR A JOINT EVERY WEEK.
WE CAN ALSO TURN A BLIND EYE ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE DRUG BARONS. WE WILL MAKE BILLIONS IN THE PROCESS. HECK ARE WE NOT FOOLS? BECASUE JOHN BULL SAYS COCAINE IS ILLEGAL THEN WE ALSO FOLLOW THEM. WHILE IT IS ILLEGAL, DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THEY THEMSELVES SMOKE IN PRIVATE? LOOK AT THEIR SUPREME COAURT RULING THAT MAN HAVING SEX WITH MAN IS GOOD? THEY THINK ONLY IN TERM OF PROFIT AND WE MUST DO THE SAME. OBAMA REALSIED HOW MUCH VOTE HE WAS GOING TO GET FROM GAYS AND DECISED TO SUPPORT THEM. AS I SAID WHEN IT COMES TO MOENY FORGET ABOUT ETHICS

I do not blame the United Kingdom asking for three thousand pounds bond in advance before granting a common holiday visa to see the different site of the world after working for may be two to four years. All is because of the mismanagement, greediness, extortion, stealing and bad governance. Because of this Ghana still remains poor; and there is no work for the youth and the new graduates. And therefore, they flee out to go to the UK to look for job and refuse to return to their homeland. This is the main reason why the United Kingdom is taking an advantage of an unfortunate situation by extorting money from these poor immigrants to pay their immigration officers.
In Ghana the rich and the wealthy and those in Government positions are so greedy and not knowledgeable, because instead of using their riches and their positions to create jobs and develop the country; they rather build houses and buy fancy cars and live extravagantly with their girlfriends, (without even caring for their family) and squander all the nations riches by importing goods from the UK and other places. We create the market for the jobs in the UK. Why can’t we create jobs in our own country? Lack of job has created a condition where all the youth in Ghana are becoming prophets, because Ghanaians easily fall for fore-telling and forth-telling. Many young people after some two weeks training and fasting begin to tell dreams and visions that are not from God and declare themselves as prophets and begin extort money from the weak-minded Christians who have knowledge of the bible.
I do not understand why the UK has decided to raise revenue from people from these poor selected countries who are coming to them for a holiday and at times to stay and work and sustain the country.
I personally don’t think their motive for that bond is what they claim it is, because if a person does not return from the UK and decides to stay and work there, their monthly salary will pay off that three thousand pounds. They just need to be lenient with people who decide to visit their country and give them a chance to see other part of the world.

I am surprised at how we feel ENTITLED to things that do not belong to us, and I am writing as a Nigerian. What is lacking in your opinion is that you did not mention which leads me to conclude that you did not consider the cost of over-stayers to the British Govt., to locate and deport an over-stayer. 3000 pounds barely cover the costs. I will support the idea of retaliation from these countries. You and I know how difficult it will become for our consulates to return money to any British national who returns on time to collect the bond money. I will concur that it appears harsh, but we all know our rulers have been forever harsh with their citizens. After all I remember in the 70s or 80s when Ghanians where forcibly removed from Nigeria. Personally I am disillusioned with Nigerians lack of National pride, if England is really going to suffer economically like everyone thinks, then let them suffer. We will only find out they can survive without us. Why are still hell bent to go there anyway? By the way 3000 pounds will have an impact, even if it is only slight on the numbers applying. Whats the problem? if you come back on time you get your money back. If you don't, at least we have some money from you to find and deport you to where you came from.
