Kufour was supposedly an educated Ghanaian with credentials from Oxford University in the UK. Rawlings is just a high school graduate and I doubt if J.J’s world view and perspective could ever be at par with Kufour. Unfortunately the link between Kufour and J.J. Rawlings is simple; they are playing Ghanaians for suckers and if you live in USA you know exactly what I mean. J.J. Rawlings is married to an Asante woman. Kufour is an Asante. It is only fools and non thinking political party foot soldiers who dwell on the fallacy of some animus between the two tribes. After all Kufour rewarded his cronies just as J.J. rewarded his cronies.
Now let’s talk facts if you Yaw Poku want to talk about facts and not the tribal boogeyman that ails all Ghanaians at home and abroad. You should understand that judgment debts came about because both J.J. Rawlings/Mills and the Kufour administrations abused the contract (for procurement and service) process. The rulings coming from Ghana's Supreme Court shows a Kufour administration that coerced vendors into signed contract to provide services and or material to the Kufour NPP government when Kufour and his thieving brigade knew good and darn well it was parliament that had the authority to validate and or enter into binding contract on behalf of Ghana. Remember it is the very tribes you are belly aching about that used tribal reasons couched behind freedoms to overthrow Nkrumah and yet most of you now live outside Ghana.
What a wonderful job the UP/matemeho/NPP and NDC has done for Ghana. You and others live outside Ghana not because mother Ghana is prosperous and saturated with the freedoms we yearned but because it’s been stagnant and unbearable since 1966. Ask that other loud mouth Dr. Okoampa-Ahoofe in your neck of the wood why he is in the USA. This write up has a message that people must clearly think about.It suggests the remedy for the canker called tribalism which had taken firm roots in our Ghanaian politics and if not urgently addressed the Armageddon we all fear may come to pass.
The solution suggested is that the protagonists lead by Rawlings and Kuffour must begin to smoke the peace pipe and their supporters will follow suit.The genesis of this conflict is born out of the two main traditions,The Busia/Danquah tradition and the Nkrumah CPP tradition which is presently represented by the ndc like the UP tradition of npp.
We should not take our eyes off the ball because this severing menace is real and if we want the peace and accolade that Ghana had chalked so far then we must address the scourge of tribalism in our country.It must start as suggested by Rawlings and Kuffour.
I believe that (if the past is anything to go by) Kuffour may accept such reconciliation if he deems it in the interest of the nation.He has placed national service duties over his ideological consideration in the past but what of Rawlings.I think if he is convinced to go along with the suggestion, it will be the beginning of good things to come.

The fundamental problem we face in this country is that,there has emerged a class of 'elites',whose reason for being is the almighty green buck or euro,and and are prepared to do deals with anybody,including even the devil,provided the "price" is right!
The revelations coming out the 'judgement-debt' cases clearly illustrate this phenomenon. And what about the recent Chinese 'invation' we have been subjected to? How did the poor peasant rural dwellers frm Kuandong Province of China find their way to the backwoods of Kwaebriem,Dunkwa-on-Offin,Adansi,etc in search of gold?
So this idea of putting our problems at the doorstep of two individuals, will not help us find the solutions to our difficulties. Furthermore, the attempt to make a particular individual a 'bogeyman' misses the point compltely!

Truth cannot be two in any given situation; and if people don't accept the real truth and play around it based on personality, there would be no justice and peace. No one person can do it all for any country. There are collaborators but one has to lead. There are the original idea starters, collaborators, supporters, the finishers and the sustainers from generation to generation. No one person can and should claim credit. This I don't have to tell you.
Having said that, we should be able to dig deep between the two situations and come out with the real truth and stop talking about what each did right or wrong. Lets put the two together and find out whose actions really helped Ghana and leave the tribe and ethnic nonsense aside in the name of the country. This way we forge ahead in unity. Not until this is done we would apportion blame until both of them are dead and the country still at attention undeveloped. What benefit do we derive from talking about Nkrumah? The man did his part and its there for all to see. He could not live forever; and some other leader should continue from where he left off. But what do we see? Kalabule, reference to Nkrumah, corruption, goe-one pound; gra-one pound; phy-one pound. Stupidity, slickness called education. People are thinking of how they would manipulate the system when appointed to a position of trust instead of what they can do to help the masses. Give us good roads, modern markets, well equipped hospitals, etc. GHANA IS LOST. A NEW REVULOTION BY THE MASSES NOW. ASHIAMAN STYLE; ARAB UPRISING. KILL ALL THE SNR. When PP came to power they not only were xenophobic but also tribalistic. Do you know as students we wanted to talk with Naa Morkor the wife of Busia for him to tone down? Did he not support the racist, apartheid regime of South Africa while expelling our brothers and sisters from ghana? I can tell you rawlings was a victim and if Ewes went home it was more because Rawlings was looking for EXPERTISE. Do you remeber Rwalings making a law one had to get a clearance if one wante dto take a job outside Ghana. He wanted to stop the "brain drain". Then he wanted loyalty and was the other side loyal to him? Look Civil servants can also sabotage a governent.To be honest the higher level of the Voltarians in certain sectors is a result of the higher level of education. By 1968 when the literacy rate in Ghana was 28%, Voltarians with tertiary level education was at 38%. I was involved in that research . Many ghanaians have succeded in the diaspora and would you attribute that to tribalism. Just take a look at the write ups and then add people like Nana Addo and his Yen Akanfo, Kill Ewes Kill gas, Okoampas, akadu, katakyie agyemang, Rockson adofo , Bonso and the mirriad of writers who either out of ignorance or hate vilify Volat region. Kobena , how will you feel if some one rejoices when your kith and kin drown in the Volta lake while going about their daily duties. Secondly you fell into the nonsensical EO Group bashing. Owusu in particular started promoting Ghana back in 1988 or thereabout, long before the NPP was even formed. At a time the Major Oil companies had given up on Ghana, he was going from office in Houston and Dallas trying to get the small and independents to come to Ghana.
Has it ever occurred to you to ask why it was companies like Kosmos, Tullow and Anadarko that made the Ghana discoveries and not any of the big guys?
What he did was perfectly legal (and investigations in both Ghana and America has proved that) in the oil industry. A promoter promotes an acreage to a company in return for a stake in the company's (NOT the country's) equity, if the company is successful.
EO's measly 3.5% came from Kosmos's equity and NOT from Ghana's. If they lose it, it reverts to Kosmos and NOT to Ghana. If you live in the US, just talk to anyone in Dallas, Houston or Denver.
Kuffuor was just being opportunistic, like all African politicians, by appointing Dr Prempeh as Ambassador. I don't even know why that guy took a pay cut from his lucrative medical practice to take that post. Perhaps it was the prestige associated with being Ambassador?
