Great article. Stupendous by any standard. I will also add that the GMA should rather consider the Cuban doctors as their allies instead of rivals. Had this been the case, it would not be possible for the govt to even consider drafting additional Cuban doctors to replace the striking Ghanaian doctors.
I think that the GMA should henceforth stop being petty and dwelling on issues such as "I am prettier (more competent) than you". Beauty (competence) is in the eyes of the beholder so they should leave the judgment to us the public. The GMA should know that their organization is or can be a major player in the nations affairs and they should be serious and be politically strategic in all their endeavors. I do not know much of the GMA organizational set-up but but I suggest that they should hire legal officers and PR persons (not necessarily qualified but good)and financial consultants.
Only coming out into the public domain on issues of pay makes them look petty. The management, administrative, procurement and operational challenges in the health sector are huge and the leadership of the GMA should take the leadership high ground in putting constant pressure on govt to resolve these issues. Once again great article Nii Teiko.

Cuban doctors earn US$25 a month in Cuba and may only be employed by the state (there is no private sector in the Communist island). They are offered minimal material incentives to go serve abroad and the Cuban government confiscates the vast majority of the payment received from Ghana for each doctor. They must leave their families behind in Cuba (hostages) and serve in conditions akin to modern slavery. Freedom-loving Ghanians should not stand for this abuse. Plus, look into their qualifications, Cuba is mass-producing doctors to earn revenues overseas and the quality of their training is questionable.

The families of these peace-keeping military personnel are also left behind - are they hostages in their own homes and country?
So what you are saying is that when others come here and work in terrible third world conditions that Ghanaian workers have been working in all these years, it amounts to slavery? Are you correct? Foreigners come to help you and you "freedom loving" deprived people dont understand why they should help you overcome your difficulties? What is your level of education by the way?
So is it now a crime to mass produce anything for revenue? Are mass-producing companies like TOYOTA, NOKIA, SAMSUNG, HONDA, DELL, HP and the rest of them listening to this mentally retarded slave?
