It is sad that people do not seem to understand this simple English language “Let every vote count”. This is different from "Count every vote". What “Let every vote count” means is that "let the results be a true reflection of how people voted. What about those whose votes that were cancelled during counting due to one reason or the other and were declared invalid? If illegal votes are added to genuine votes to change the results then the genuine votes "have not counted".

The heart of the Democratic Process is those who cast their votes. This is a genuine statement. Ask yourself, Nana Akua, why and how this case went to court. Where were you when the NPP asked the EC to investigate some anomalies before declaring the results? Let me refresh your memory with what the EC chairman told a BBC press conference in answer to the NPP's request; "You can go to court if you are not happy with the results". So they promised to go to court and your mosquito General Secretary said "Any idiot can go to court" Later, mosquito showed he is a bigger idiot by applying to be joined to the case. By the way, Ghana (or NPP)is not the first to do this. In the 2000 US presidential elections, Al Gore caused their supreme court to deliberate over the results. I strongly suspect there are others.

How come all the over 11,000 polling stations that the alleged malpractices took place were won by President Mahama. The EC which is purported to be inefficent in those over 11,000 pooling stations performed in the other stations. Statistically this is not possible unless a grand scheme was embarked on by the EC. The NPP simply ignored irregulaties on pink sheets in areas won by Nana. At best the petitioners should have analysed all pink sheets and call for rerun due the administrative errors.

Don't envy the man, Nana Akuffo Addo. He's talking about justice and fairness. Do you have a problem with that? If you do then you don't even understand what democracy is all about. There were discrepancies and there is ample evidence to necessitate a court challenge of the results as stipulated by the constitution. In 2008 the NDC besieged the EC offices and threatened an outpouring of a Kenya-like fire and brimstone upon Ghana if the results were not declared in their favor. You got what you wanted so Ghana did not burn. Are you not even thanking your God that the NPP chose a more civil, judicious and constitutionally approved solution as opposed to what the NDC intended to do in the year 2008? Do you live in the Stone Age?

The author should hide his brainless head in shame. If going to the courts is not a democratic process I am not sure what else is. No one is calling for the courts to disregard the votes for mahama. All Mr. Nana Addo is emphasizing is that there was a discrepancy in the vote count and that too many votes were incorrectly attributed to mahama. Mr. Akuffo Addo has every right under the sun to settle this case within the democratic process of which he is very conversant.

Nana Addo has proven to be the bad, unforgiven, manupulative, two face, inconsistent litigant President that never was. I am happy that Ghanaians saw through all those antics and rejected him. I started to fear Nana Addo the very day he tried to make Free Education his flagship campaign promise. One must note that he made such promise in 2008, however at that time and just after his BBC interview disaster, free education as explained was to cover some few areas of cost. He all of a sudden changed to cover almost everything under the sun, after his opponent raising questions and given attention to it. He suddenly took advantage of the hype given to it and suddenly over hyped it, making ridiculous promises on it. It was there that i realised that, this is a man who can sell his own mother for power. How this guy can promise something that can crumble our economic gains really was unbelievable. And this is exactly what we are seeing today. Saying and doing anything to win power. You want the Suprem Court to cancel over 4 million votes cast by Ghanaians that you want to rule them, so that you can be President of the country. And you think the people will consider you to be a legitimat President. I leave that to your conscience.

You are dead wrong TNC. You are the one with a problem. You are obviously an NDC sympathiser and hence anyone who does not reason the same as you in your opinion has a problem. IBF's point is clear. An objective and non partisan reader will see the logic in his comment. This court case will make our democracy stronger. It will serve as a warning to both NPP and NDC members to be cautious in their dealings during elections. Anyone who thinks the elections was free and fair is in self denial. Looking at the way corruption has eaten so deep into our way of doing things is there anything we as Ghanaians do properly? You can all sit there and fool yourself about the election being credible or use this as an opportunity to prove it is or it is not. If NDC won fairly, then even if there is a re-run of our presidential elections, NDC should win again unless they stole the election.

Perhaps, you need to sit again to review and read between the lines. Sanctity of the ballot box is indeed paramount; that is if it is not tampered with.
The sanctity of the ballot box means when someone has cast his/her vote no one adds to it.
The sanctity of the ballot box means you do put what is 'unsanctified'in the box.
There is a lot to sanctity of the ballot box and I could go on and on. I don't think for a second that akkufo Addo was advocating the ballot box remaining sanctified even when that has been tampered with and manupulated to misrepresent the person who cast the vote.
Remember that when the vote is cast, someone has to count and in doing so the sanctity must always be maintained otherwise the vote, the ballot box and all that is associated with it becomes 'Unsanctified'

But imagine that the petitioners want to cancel all votes from about 10,000 polling stations just because the serial number of the summary sheet used to record the details of valid votes has been duplicated. How does the duplicated serial number invalidate those votes.
If there are proven invalid votes, yes, then lets clean them but do not for heavens sake cancel votes that have been validly cast

Let every vote count does not mean allowing illegitimate votes to stand. This principle was established for systems that are fair, free and without any doubt not tainted with corruption and dubious intent. When it is established that a vote has not been properly cast or due process has not been followed, it nullifies the overall outcome. Unfortunately, other votes cast appropriately may be collaterally affected and set aside but it does not challenge the notion of the sanctity of every vote. There are rules for every human interaction and when the rules meant to establish fair play are not observed, it taints the outcome and it does not matter that somebody played a fair game or not. Nana Akuffo-Addo cannot be faulted in any way because he made the statement you have quoted. Your interpretation of it is spurious and too immature.

Nana Akufo-Addo's decision to challenge the results of the 2012 general elections in the Supreme Court is not what has put this country on tentahooks.
The law that made the casting of a ballot sacred is the very law that outlined the processes for seeking redress should there be any electoral grievances.
Therefore, if there is anything that has put this country on tentahooks, if any, it is the very law that made this provision; without which Nana Akufo-Addo
and co will not be in court. It sounds absolutely unusual that a country whose citizenry has accepted the rule of law will rather fight a decision by fellow citizens to seek redress in court.
If there are any other means of seeking redress under this constitutional regime, apart from the courts, I strongly believe that it must be made known.
Nana Akufo Addo wants to be president at any cost. I hope he has found his lost certificate to face Justice Kpegah on May 02, 2013.
