And the Anlos, Tongus, Awudome-Tsitos and Pekis became part of the British sphere of influence way back in 1850 and colony in the 1870s! Asante became part of the colony of the Gold Coast in 1946 under the Burns Const. Until then, it was just a Protectorate. I doubt if you have the education to understand these nuances though.

The thesis of your poem is on track, you have miserably demonstrated and reinforced the very arrogance that makes other ethnic groups in Ghana have hostile feelings against the Akans. You have not helped the course of nationhood. You have demonstrated utter ignorance and bigotry in your reference to "Akan cocoa" and "Akan gold". This is because you either have no clue of who labors on the cocoa farms and gold mines to bring the potentials of the soil to the market or you have chosen to totally ignored it in your rush to paint the north as worthless and parasitic.
By your article, you had done Ghana a disservice, especially at this time when we are trying to mend our ethnic differences in order to tackle the very pertinent political and economic issues that confront us. You have a right to speak, but you do not have a right to spew hatred and insults at us, ensconced in your escapist hideout in the US.
