Good stuff Kwaku but practically is that what happens? i am a healthcare provider and most of the time I see counter assistants and dispensary technicians dishing out medication. It is a fact that almost all pharmacists have their shops and spend more time there.
So Kwaku the pharmacist is a very important team member of the health team but for reasons best known to you alone, you have not projected this role

With these wonderful patient-centred roles spelt out, not much is seen in our health facilities because of the ratio of pharmacist to patients. It is greatly unthinkable for any serious employer to expect one individual to efficiently perform all these roles. As a health professional, there has been times I have witness patients sit at OPD unattended because the only doctor in the facility is in the theatre performing a procedure and that is never interpreted as not playing his role in the healthcare delivery team. I think the real impact of a pharmacist will be felt if the government employs more of them to handle these roles effectively- from managing stocks through formulation and dispensing(please this does not mean giving out drugs) to providing pharmaceutical care to patients by reviewing patient medication, its administration and effects.
Ghanaians can choose to give patients the quality care they deserve or just sideline professionals for patients to continue suffering.

I write medication and prescribe drugs to my friends and family, showing dosage and they all look good. I am a pharmacist and doctor. Nonsense .
I pray and lay hand on the sick. I am a pastor.
Is Nana Addo a lawyer. Yes he is my classmate. We are all free lance or pocket lawyers. Nonsense

I see, then the pharmacist is inevitable if patients have to achieve the best from health care. No wonder we have to report to the hospital almost every week for lack of cure in hospitals without pharmacist.

Outside a chemist in a busy street, a poor man is clutching onto a pole for dear life - not breathing, not moving, not twitching a muscle - just standing there, frozen. The pharmacist, seeing this strange sight in front of his shop, goes up to his assistant and asks, "What's the matter with that guy? Wasn't he in here earlier?" Assistant replies, "Yes he was. He had the most terrible cough and none of my prescriptions seemed to help." Pharmacist says, "He seems to be fine now." Assistant replies, "Sure, he does. I gave him a box of the strongest laxatives on the market... Now he won't dare cough!"

your colleagues have denigrated your beloved profession by just hanging their certificates in pharmacy shops and not even stepping a foot there.
