I have driven behind these VIP buses and they disregard other road users. At a time, I wanted to overtake a VIP who was driving very erratic all over the road and overtaking on curves and hills on the Kumasi-Accra road. I had to speed up over 140km/h to overtake the said bus. Why should such a bus be driving at such high speed. These buses must be fitted with electronic speed limiters so that they can not go over 80 or 100km/h. There are now electronic devices that can be installed on vehicles including such buses to monitor them through GPS and satellite. One can see how fast they accelerate and how quick they brake. The life's of the passengers seem to mean little to the VIP company after receiving the fare. All bus companies must be monitored. Other buses are the Metro Mass buses who also drive at very high speeds. I have experienced them to on Kumasi Obuasi road and onwards to New Edubiase. Even though there is a sticker on the back of the bus stating 80km/h, they drive as fast as 120-140km/h and disregard hills and curves for overtaking. There is a hotline number printed at the back of the bus. I have on several occasions tried calling the number but it simply says that the number does not exist. Bus companies are playing with the lifes of people and they must be monitored. Drivers must be well educated in drive and must attend refresher courses every 6 months to remind them on the rules of the road and safety of passengers.

The collapse of the STC should be a good lesson for them. Ghanaians have are no more ignorant. They expect value for their money so if this company does not change their arrogant drivers, it will also go down.

Down it will go because the usual foolish attitude of Ghanaian workers is at play.I went to their terminal in Kumasi and asked an official a stout dark gentleman for the washroom ,he waved in a direction very arrogantly with the left hand.It turned out that washroom was outside and not even theirs, they had no washroom at the terminal for passengers. In my usual style i would have blasted this fool but i decided to let go.Air fares are reducing and VIP should be very afraid.I go to Kumasi by air this time ,though i prefer road travel. There could be another VIP with better buses,Granbird are not top of the range, there are superior buses like Prevost,Setra etc etc.Peugeot of Koforidua went this same way, they were so proud they forgot the 504 and 505 cars were getting old and phasing out, they died before they knew it.There are 3row seat cars around they could have migrated to but pride went before a fall. The newer air conditioned Nissan and Toyota cars killed the peugeot service.
