This is absolute trash,Gabby. You are incensed because NDC won the election.Would you have written this trash had your NPP won the elections. Where were you when Kuffour together with his cronies became instant millionaires, ran this country down by stealing and acquiring every land, bungalows, hotels, property, etc. Gabby, go to hell with your tribal nonsense.
Ghanaian voters are might look silly but are not retarded. They have rejected Akuffo Addo because of his stupid pronouncements during the elections and was an accomplice who helped pillaged the little we had in our coffers.Let the NPP return what they stole from Ghana's coffers and they will overwhelmingly vote for Nana Akuffo Addo come next election 2016

The rushing of their petition is a plottttt by the sly chikuyu tribe to hold on to power.I will take Ghana's mess any day over those failed kenyans whose only positive is the more solid foundation the Brits left for them.Kenya is an ethnic and urban mess unlike any other.

Gabby, I read a report of Ken Ofori-Atta's speech on Joy FM online and also read some of the comments. Your article appears to be a milder version of his.
I am surprised to hear from you guys that there is silence and apathy in Ghana regarding the presidential petition or what is happening in Ghana in general. I am not in Ghana but monitoring events through the media, I do not see this silence and apathy you and Ofori-Atta are drawing attention to. Unfortunately, you both failed to recommend any specific action/s that Ghanaians must embark upon to redress this apparent silence and apathy.
Do you want Ghanaians to go on daily demonstrations or what? If yes, to demand what and in support of what?
I share the concerns for the delay in the presidential petition at the SC and even worried that Kenya's SC will put Ghana's SC to shame. However, I am not sure if the right approach would be to put pressure on the SC to rush the case. I am also not sure that Ghanaians have not expressed their concerns over the delay.
Regarding educating the public and ensuring peace on the outcome of the petition, I think it is too early to blame the Peace Council and others. The prime responsibility lies with NDC and NPP to educate their fanatical supporters. So since you and Ofori-Atta are closer to NPP what have you done in this regard?
I am sure when the SC petition is nearing a decision, the Peace Council and other relevant agencies will put appropriate measures in place to ensure the preservation of peace in Ghana whatever the outcome.
Gabby, you and Ken Ofori-Atta should be bold and say that Ghanaians should demonstrate and go on strike in favour of Nana Akufo Addo's petition and not beat about the bush. Because that is not happening, that is why you guys are claiming this silence and apathy in Ghana. Ghanaians will not die for Nana Akufo Addo to be president so that Ofori-Atta can recoup his investment in contributing to Nana Akufo Addo's 2008 and 2012 campaigns.

You are simply full of contradictions Mr Otchere-Darko. It is clear from your article that you are only looking for one outcome - the petitioners being granted their will, which I am not even sure of. The worst case scenario in my view would be that the Supreme Court Justices would rule, (based on evidence), that there were irregularities of such proportion that these clearly and incontrovertibly affected the outcome of the presidential polls, therefore their recommendation will be for the polls to be held again. That is the possible worst case scenario as I see it. If that were to be the case (and that is a very big IF), then one would expect that electioneering would resume, and the polls will be held. All who profess to be true democrats will be expected to obey the law, behave themselves (and their supporters properly) and an open, transparent, free and fair elections would be held.
It behoves people like Otchere-Darko (who profess to be democrats) to work hard to ensure that their side (supporters) obey the rule of law and help to maintain the peace, just as it is for the NDC leadership to do the same. The law enforcement agencies are supposed to play their role as neutral state organisations whose primary role would be to ensure the peace and stability of the country and to maintain law and order and punish anyone who tries to subvert the peace and security of the country. So, why is Otchere-Darko talking about "revolution", "violence, anarchy" and the like? If I may remind readers, it is this same Otchere-Darko who stated in no uncertain terms, that the "NPP were not going to court on principle, but to make it difficult for Mahama and the NDC to govern". So, should anyone be surprised that he is now talking about revolution?
The military has no political mandate and this is very clear in the Ghana constitution. If civilians of any party choose to foment trouble and chaos, I expect the security agencies to step in and apply the full force of the law on any culprits irrespective of party, station or position. Under such circumstances, the president will have to declare a state of emergency, and to invoke the powers vested in him as commander-in-chief to "protect the state" from any form of aggression.
May be Otchere-Darko has forgotten that the "silent majority" he refers to is actually not on his side of the political divide, nor does that majority actually believe that his ilk and their shenanigans are any thing that impresses anyone. Worse still, his talk of a doomsday scenario and his assertion that "whatever the outcome of the supreme court decision, there will be chaos, agitation and violence" only goes to underscore what he 'knows' is the likely outcome. If this is his way of 'calling his NPP supporters to arms', then it is a great pity and very UNPATRIOTIC and wicked and calculating indeed. It is all well trying to warn about reactions of people who may not be happy but Otchere-Darko's article does more than that - It seeks to incite in my opinion, and must be condemned without equivocation.
It is hard for me to understand how a whole party would argue that it deserves to RUN the country and to RULE the people, yet, can be so divisive and sow seeds of discord, invoke extreme sentiments sometimes bothering on overt tribalism, and expect that somehow the rest of the country, the majority who reside in all regions including the only two that the NPP won, will somehow accept that party after they have 'come in through the back door'. Every right thinking person and patriot must condemn this dangerous line of thinking and incitement and rather work towards peace, stability and the harmony the government requires to forge ahead with the development of EVERY part of the country.
Whilst we are at it, the NDC leadership, with the authority of the president must also rein in their supporters, make a bold stand for democracy and the rule of law and ensure that their supporters don't do anything stupid in retaliation for any excesses on the part of the NPP. For a leader in the NPP to be talking like this is not just unfortunate, it demonstrates how far away we are from having real leaders who 'know how to lose and turn their loss into a basis for rebuilding and strength'. In all good democracies, that is what political parties and their leaders do.
We cannot on the one hand say that we are making progress (under the NPP) and showcase our pride as Ghana to the outside world (under NPP)( and on the other hand (under the NDC), try to portray to the world that somehow Ghana is corrupt, not working, lazy, unstable, ungovernable and what have you. Otchere-Darko, having a 'good education' is not enough. Being truly Ghanaian and a patriot is more important and goes far beyond party, tribe, religion or creed. You must learn to be a proper leader if you want to be respected by the people of Ghana!

For you to provide an alibi for an all-out-war in Ghana is nothing short of sedition; an attempt to incite the people against a legitimate authority. You and the likes of Ken, Okommpa-Ahofee and others are prophets of doom.

Let Gabby and his ilk know that violence is not the monopoly of the Danquah-Busia group. If it is war they want they should bring it on. And to those of them who foolishly think they can sneak out of the country after plunging it in to war must think again: they are being closely monitored. They wont survive and live to tell their story. Nana Addo was comprehensively beaten in an election all independent observers described as free and fair. Let Gabby and his ilk know that the SC has no alternative than to confirm the verdict of the Ghanaian people and the the independent observers. Ghanaians are simply tired of these arrogant akyem ethnocentrics.
